The 5 Best Digital Translators of 2025

0

Being immersed in the sights and sounds of a different culture is one of the greatest joys of travel — that’s why it’s imperative that you’re able to interpret the sights and sounds you come across. Whether you’re shopping your way down a bustling neighborhood in Tokyo, Japan or strolling through the cobblestone streets of a quaint European town, being able to communicate in the local language is essential to having a fulfilling and seamless trip.

If you don’t have the time to brush up on a new language before you head off on your international adventure, getting your hands on a handheld digital translator is the next best way to prepare. The best devices are easy to operate, compact enough to fit into any travel bag, and are reasonably functional even without Wi-Fi. Whether you’re heading on a two-week trip or moving to a new country where you haven’t yet learned the language, a digital translator will be the bridge to help you step up comprehension game big time. We looked at the various options on the market, from handheld translators to wearable devices, to determine which are worth buying. These are our five favorite options.

Vasco V4 Language Translator Device

PHOTO: Amazon

With its slim profile and Android-based operating system, the Vasco V4 feels and functions like a smartphone from the moment you say hello. This handheld device can translate conversations, typed text, and can decipher signs and labels in 112 languages using its integrated camera. This makes it possible to communicate with around 90 percent of the people on the planet.

My only beef with the Vasco V4 is the fact that the device doesn’t provide the same level of support for every language. For example, this digital translator offers voice input and output, a photo translator, and text translation in German. But for my second language, Gaeilge (Irish) it only allows for photo translation. We recommend making sure you research what languages the Vasco V4 supports and in what modes before purchasing.

The Details: 2.17 x 0.39 x 5.87 inches | 4.7 ounces | 108 languages available | Free lifetime data / Built-in SIM

Acodo Language Translator

PHOTO: Amazon

Travel can be expensive, but the translation device you take on your trip doesn’t need to be. The relatively inexpensive, pocket-sized Acodo Language Translator can translate 138 different languages for you using nothing more than a Wi-Fi connection. Like our best overall pick, the Acodo can translate signs and other text captured by its built-in camera. When trying to order food or ask for the price of a cab ride, for example, typing in your query will yield a quick, accurate translation in the language of your choice. Voice translation? Yep, it does that too.

Unfortunately, if you don’t have access to a Wi-Fi connection, functionality becomes limited pretty quickly. The Acodo’s acumen with 138 languages drops to just the 17 common languages that it carries in its offline memory. This may be fine for some trips, but could render this inexpensive translation device useless if you’re exploring areas with little or no internet infrastructure.

The Details: 5.63 x 3.46 x 1.54 inches | 0.63 ounces | 138 languages online, 17 offline | Wi-Fi connectivity

Amazon Timekettle Fluentalk T1 Mini Handheld Translator Device

PHOTO: Amazon

Despite its diminutive size, the Timekettle Fluentalk T1 Mini Translator is pretty capable. It takes up so little space in a travel purse, packable backpack, or pocket that you’d be remiss not to take it along with you. What’s more, its easy-to-navigate interface makes it intuitive to operate (even if you’re less than tech-savvy). However, it does have some quirks, especially when stacked against the other devices on this list.

For one, it only offers real-time support for 40 languages, and it’s only available when connected to the internet. The upside, however, is that when you buy the Fluentalk T1 Mini, your first year of LTE data is free. After that, you’ll have to pony up for a cellular data subscription or only use real-time translation when you have access to Wi-Fi. It is possible to do some offline translation with the Fluentalk T1 Mini. However, the languages offered are pretty limited. It can also deliver photo translations of text from 40 different languages. But again, this is fewer languages than are offered by other devices featured on this list.

The Details: 3.58 x 2.15 x 0.53 inches | 2.82 ounces | 40 languages and 93 accents, 13 offline | One year of free data

Timekettle WT2 Edge/W3 Translator Device

PHOTO: Amazon

Timekettle’s WT2 Edge translator earbuds have more features than most travelers need. But if you do business in multiple languages, these earphones could be exactly the translation tool you need. Designed to work with your smartphone, these earbuds can provide bilingual translation for up to six individuals at once. This makes it an ideal device for understanding what’s being said during an in-person or Zoom meeting. Thanks to the WT2 Edge’s companion app, you’ll be able to capture, translate and automatically transcribe your conversations.

Unfortunately, the WT2 Edge earbuds lose a lot of their capabilities when disconnected from the internet. While connected, they support 40 languages. Without data, that number is reduced to 13 offline languages. You should also know that many users have reported long pauses before their conversation was translated by the WT2 Edge.

The Details: 3.93 x 3.93 x 1.97 inches (charging case) | 7.1 ounces | 40 languages, 13 offline | Data connection via smartphone

Solos Argon 6s Smart Glasses AirGo 3

PHOTO: Solos

The Solos AirGo3 Smart Glasses are designed to pipe translated audio into your ears using directed speakers, making them a great choice while sightseeing or chatting with a local vendor at an outdoor market. But that’s not all they do. The AirGo3 glasses can also stream your favourite music from your phone, connect to ChatGPT or your smartphone’s assistant to answer questions, and read your messages while you workout. They can be fitted with prescription lenses for those that need them, since their computing hardware is built into the arm of the glasses. It’s also possible to change the style and look of your AirGo3 by attaching a different set of frames to them.

To get the most out of the AirGo3, you’ll have to contend with the fact that their interface can be less than intuitive at times. Like other digital translators in this guide, when they’re disconnected from your smartphone’s internet connection, many of the features are unusable.

The Details: 5.6 x 1.5 inches (frames) | 1.19 ounces | Bluetooth connectivity

Tips for Buying

Consider Your Usage

Think about the countries you’ll be visiting and the languages you need translated to ensure the device is compatible for your upcoming trips. It might also be helpful to check whether or not the translator requires a standalone app for offline use or a browser extension for quick access. Some of the translators we’ve included on this list come with one free year of data, but in any case, you’ll want to make sure the destination you’re traveling to offers reliable Wi-Fi or cellular connectivity.

Look For Ease of Use

A good translator should be simple enough to navigate on the go. Whether you’re interpreting street signs, reading a menu written in a different language, or communicating with a local for directions, having a device that translates fairly quickly is essential for seamless travel. One of the perks of using a digital translator versus an app is that you get to conserve your phone’s battery. That being said, a digital translator’s battery should last long enough to get you through a whole day (at least eight hours) before needing a charge.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do digital translators work?

Whether converting speech or the written word from one language to another, a digital translator works in much the same way. The device listens to words or reads text and breaks sentences down into smaller units. Then, using artificial intelligence and complex algorithms, the digital translator looks at the intent of the words used in the signs or conversation it’s been fed and translates them into the language of your choice. Because of the size and complexity of each language, most digital translators use a data connection to access servers that contain the information required to complete their translation. Some devices come with the storage space to download a few languages for use at times when no data connection is available.

  • What is the benefit of using a digital translation device versus an app?

There are a number of benefits to using a handheld digital translator instead of an app on your smartphone. For starters, using your smartphone every time you need to translate a sign, understand a store clerk, or order food can drain your battery fast. Relying on a digital translation device will save your phone’s juice for performing other vital travel tasks like navigation, accessing your mobile wallet, or taking photos. Additionally, apps like Google translate can cover the basics. But a dedicated translation device typically offers more versatility. Some can differentiate between multiple speakers, translate more than two languages at a time, and even transcribe your conversations to send to others.

Dato’ Kuek Kien Joo Andy at Bentley Owner Club Singapore’s 10-year anniversary celebration.

As President of the Bentley Owner Club Singapore and the visionary behind the Grand Columbia Group, Dato’ Kuek Kien Joo Andy is a prominent figure in the world of entrepreneurship and business. With an impressive portfolio spanning finance, shipping, telecommunications, property development, and manufacturing, he has built an empire that stretches across the Asia-Pacific region. Founded in 1992, the Grand Columbia Group has made its mark in key markets such as Singapore, Malaysia, China, and Papua New Guinea (PNG), and is actively exploring to expand into other ASEAN countries and Australia. His role as President of the Bentley Owner Club Singapore (BOCS), has seen Dato’ Kuek Kien Joo Andy fostering a sense of exclusivity and camaraderie among members with bespoke events, such as scenic drives, curated retreats, and high-profile galas while celebrating the values and prestige Bentley represents.

The Grand Columbia Group has strategically divested from certain industries, sharpening its focus on banking, factoring and supply chain finance, insurance, and property investment and development. Within the financial sector, its operations are divided into two key segments: banking and non-banking. Under the name Fincorp, the Group operates one of the largest financial institutions in Papua New Guinea (PNG), regulated under the country’s banking laws. Fincorp accepts public deposits to finance its commercial and consumer loan portfolio and also owns an insurance brokerage company.

Beyond banking, the Group’s non-banking financial activities are centred on factoring and supply chain finance, including term loans and purchase order (PO) financing. These operations are managed under the Planworth brand, a multiple award-winning company with a strong presence in Malaysia and Singapore. As the largest player in Malaysia in this field, Planworth has disbursed nearly RM 3 billion in financing to date and was recently honoured with the prestigious Malaysia E50 Enterprise Award.

In the realm of property investment and development, the Group has successfully completed several landmark projects, including multi-storey buildings, and continues to expand its property portfolio while increasing its land bank. Strategic plans are in place to develop and acquire additional properties as new opportunities arise, further reinforcing the Group’s presence in this sector.

LUXUO catches up with Dato’ Kuek ahead of the Bentley Owner Club Singapore’s 10th anniversary Gala at Singapore’s The Ritz Carlton where the entrepreneur discussed how he navigates his diverse ventures and his insights to BOCS’ evolution and its ongoing commitment to growth and diversification.

As someone with investments in multiple countries, including China, Singapore, Malaysia and Papua New Guinea (PNG), what are the challenges you face with each country’s business culture, and how do you overcome them?

Each country’s business culture presents unique challenges, that require a thoughtful and adaptive approach. In China, the emphasis on relationships (guanxi), trust-building, and government regulations can be challenging to navigate. I overcame these challenges by getting the local team to foster strong partnerships, maintaining open communication, and staying updated on policy changes to ensure compliance and build trust.

In Singapore, the business culture is highly competitive, innovation-driven, and structured. The challenge lies in meeting high expectations and staying ahead in a fast-paced environment. I address this by fostering a culture of continuous improvement, leveraging Singapore’s robust infrastructure, and prioritising collaboration with local talent.

In Malaysia, cultural diversity and bureaucratic processes require a nuanced approach. I emphasise cultural sensitivity, build strong relationships with local stakeholders, and maintain transparency and consistency in operations.

In Papua New Guinea, the challenges include limited infrastructure, a developing regulatory framework, and cultural complexities. I approach these by investing in capacity building, collaborating with local communities, and focusing on sustainable and inclusive business practices.

Overall, the key to managing these challenges lies in adaptability, cultural intelligence, and a commitment to building trust and long-term relationships in each market. By respecting and understanding the unique dynamics of each country, I aim to turn challenges into opportunities for mutual growth and success.

Can you share some insights about Bentley Owners Club Singapore and what sets it apart?

The Bentley Owners Club Singapore (BOCS) is a vibrant and exclusive community that brings together individuals who share a deep appreciation for the Bentley brand’s heritage, craftsmanship, and excellence. What truly sets BOCS apart is the combination of its unique culture, premium experiences, and a strong sense of camaraderie among its members.

Firstly, the club’s premium membership provides access to exclusive events, networking opportunities, and the chance to connect with like-minded enthusiasts who share a refined appreciation for automotive excellence. Next, BOCS organises bespoke events that celebrate the Bentley lifestyle. These include scenic drives, luxury retreats, and private gatherings at special, interesting and premium venues. Such events are tailored to offer members unforgettable experiences that align with the sophistication and elegance associated with Bentley.

What truly sets BOCS apart is the strong sense of community. The club fosters deep connections among its members, creating a platform for friendships, business collaborations, and shared passions. It’s not just about the cars; it’s about the people and the relationships that develop within the club. BOCS embodies the values of the Bentley brand — uncompromising quality, innovation, and elegance. This is reflected in every aspect of the club, from its events to its member engagement, ensuring an exceptional experience for all.

The Bentley Owners Club Singapore is more than just an automotive club; it’s a lifestyle that celebrates luxury, heritage, and the shared joy of owning one of the world’s most iconic automobiles.

In your view, how is the luxury automobile industry adapting to the rising demand for sustainability and electric mobility, and what role does Bentley play in this shift?

Luxury brands, including Bentley, are embracing transformative change by reimagining their products, all while preserving the essence of luxury, performance, and exclusivity. The challenge lies in integrating cutting-edge electric and sustainable technologies without sacrificing the craftsmanship, quality, and sophistication that define high-end automobiles.

Bentley is leading this charge with its Beyond100 strategy, a bold roadmap designed to achieve full electrification by 2030. The brand is at the forefront of this evolution through several key initiatives:

Hybrid and Electric Models: Bentley is already transitioning its lineup with plug-in hybrid models, and fully electric vehicles are set to debut soon, marking a significant shift toward sustainable performance.

Sustainable Manufacturing Practices: Bentley’s Crewe headquarters has become a carbon-neutral facility, underscoring the brand’s commitment to environmentally responsible operations.

Innovative Materials: Bentley is pioneering the use of sustainable materials, such as vegan interiors and recycled elements, ensuring that luxury and sustainability coexist seamlessly.

This progressive approach proves that sustainability and luxury can harmoniously coalesce. Bentley’s leadership sets a powerful example for the automotive industry, showing that high-performance luxury can evolve without compromising its storied heritage.

As the industry moves toward a greener future, Bentley remains poised to lead by staying true to its legacy while embracing an innovative, sustainable, and electrified tomorrow.

Dato’ Kuek Kien Joo Andy at Bentley Owner Club Singapore’s 10-year anniversary celebration.

How do you maintain the exclusivity of the Bentley brand while fostering a welcoming and vibrant community within the club?

Maintaining the exclusivity of the Bentley brand while fostering a welcoming and vibrant community within the club is a delicate balance, but one that lies at the heart of the Bentley Owners Club’s mission.

We achieve this by embracing the following principles. The first is that the constitution of the club BOCS states that “only those who own Bentley Car” can apply for the membership, thus it is exclusive to passionate Bentley owners who share an appreciation for the brand’s legacy of craftsmanship, performance, and elegance can be a member of BOCS. This ensures the community remains exclusive while attracting individuals who resonate with Bentley’s values.

Next, we create bespoke events that reflect the sophistication of the Bentley brand — luxury drives, private gatherings, and curated travel experiences. These events provide opportunities for members to connect meaningfully while celebrating the exclusivity and heritage of Bentley ownership. While exclusivity is important, we foster a warm, inclusive atmosphere where every member feels valued and respected. The shared passion for Bentley automobiles becomes the foundation for building authentic relationships within the community.

The club consistently aligns its activities and ethos with Bentley’s principles of innovation, excellence, and timeless elegance. This reinforces the brand’s prestige while enhancing members’ sense of pride and belonging. By combining exclusivity with genuine connection and shared experiences, we have cultivated a club culture that celebrates the Bentley lifestyle while creating a vibrant, welcoming community for all members.

What is your outlook on entrepreneurship as we dive deeper into 2025, particularly in the context of luxury and innovation?

For 2025, the outlook for entrepreneurship, particularly in the realms of luxury and innovation, is marked by both challenges and exciting opportunities. Luxury consumers are increasingly prioritising experiences, personalisation, and sustainability. Entrepreneurs in this space must innovate to meet these expectations by delivering unique, tailored offerings that go beyond traditional luxury products.

Innovation continues to be driven by advancements in technology such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, and augmented reality. These tools are transforming how luxury brands engage with consumers, offering immersive experiences, enhanced customization, and seamless digital integration.

The post-pandemic world has shown that resilience and agility are essential for navigating global uncertainties. Entrepreneurs will need to stay ahead by quickly adapting to changes in market dynamics, supply chains, and consumer behavior. While globalisation allows brands to reach broader markets, there is also a growing emphasis on local authenticity. Entrepreneurs will need to strike a balance between scaling their businesses globally while maintaining local relevance and cultural sensitivity.

Overall, the intersection of luxury and innovation offers immense potential for entrepreneurs who are willing to embrace change, focus on sustainability, and harness technology to deliver value and create meaningful connections with consumers. The future of entrepreneurship in this space will be defined by those who can seamlessly blend tradition with forward-thinking ideas.

What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs in 2025 who are navigating the increasingly complicated business landscape?

Aspiring entrepreneurs in 2025 face an increasingly complex business landscape, but it’s also a time of tremendous opportunity for those who are prepared to adapt and innovate. Here are a few key pieces of advice:

Change is the only constant in today’s business environment. Be ready to pivot, adapt to disruptions, and embrace uncertainty. Build a resilient mindset and a business model that can weather challenges while remaining flexible to seize new opportunities. Consumers, investors, and stakeholders are increasingly valuing sustainability. Incorporate environmentally and socially responsible practices into your business from the start. This is not only the right thing to do but also a long-term strategy for staying competitive and relevant.

Stay ahead of the curve by embracing emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, and data analytics. Technology is a powerful enabler that can help streamline operations, enhance customer experiences, and drive innovation. Today’s consumers are looking for more than just products or services — they want meaningful experiences. Understand your customers deeply, listen to their needs, and create personalised, memorable interactions that foster loyalty and trust.

It is important to surround yourself with mentors, collaborators, and industry peers who can provide guidance, insights, and support. A strong network can open doors, offer fresh perspectives, and help you navigate challenges more effectively. Businesses with a clear purpose tend to inspire greater trust and loyalty. Define your “why” and let it guide your decisions, strategies, and the way you engage with stakeholders.

Bentley’s Beyond100 strategy emphasises sustainability. How do you see this aligning with the preferences and values of Bentley owners in Singapore?

Bentley’s Beyond100 strategy, which focuses on sustainability and achieving full electrification by 2030, aligns closely with the evolving preferences and values of Bentley owners in Singapore.

Singaporean Bentley owners are discerning individuals who value innovation, luxury, and social responsibility. As sustainability becomes a global priority, many of them appreciate the importance of reducing environmental impact while maintaining the sophistication and performance synonymous with the Bentley brand.

Bentley’s dedication to merging luxury with sustainability aligns seamlessly with these evolving values. The brand’s integration of hybrid and electric drivetrains, the use of eco-friendly materials, and its commitment to sustainable manufacturing showcase that environmental responsibility can go hand-in-hand with exclusivity and exceptional craftsmanship.

In Singapore, where government policies champion electric vehicles and green initiatives are a key focus, Bentley’s Beyond100 strategy is particularly relevant. Bentley owners in the city-state are increasingly embracing this transition, recognizing that it not only reflects their personal values but also aligns with a progressive, forward-thinking approach to luxury.

The Beyond100 strategy ensures that Bentley continues to meet the high expectations of its Singaporean clientele — delivering unmatched quality and innovation while contributing to a more sustainable future. This strategic alignment strengthens the connection between the brand and its dedicated community in Singapore.

Succession Founder Melvyn Goh Shares His Vision for Sustained Generational Legacies

0

With founder Melvyn Goh at the helm, Succession Advisory Partners provides consultation services to highly affluent families and their kin on intergenerational and succession matters. As Asia experiences a dramatic shift in wealth dynamics, Melvyn Goh is spearheading efforts to support family enterprises in navigating succession planning and wealth transfer. Through his various ventures, including Succession and the Nanyang Succession Centre of Excellence, Goh is shaping the future of generational wealth with innovative solutions that cater to both financial growth and family harmony, while at Family Fortune Times, Goh provides insights tailored to principals of single-family offices across Asia.

What led you to establish Succession in Singapore?

My work has taken me to global cities like Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Shanghai, immersing me in the worlds of luxury, high-net-worth individuals, and family enterprises. A significant part of my career was with Forbes China, where I focused on entrepreneurship, particularly family entrepreneurship. This gave me a front-row seat to observe the exponential growth of business enterprises.

When I arrived in Shanghai in 2005, there were only ten billionaires on the Forbes China list. By 2015, that number had grown to over a thousand. This extraordinary growth of wealth creation was remarkable, but what intrigued me most was the next phase — wealth transfer. We’re in the century of the greatest wealth transition, with McKinsey estimating nearly USD 7 trillion being transferred globally.

Succession represents the culmination of my career transformations — from media to advertising, then non-profit, and now the wealth and financial space. It combines my passion for supporting business families, addressing their needs in succession planning, and helping the next generation build sustainable legacies.

What specific services do you offer, and can you customise them to meet a family’s unique needs and goals?

That’s a great question. I am going to take advantage of free advertising here. Our core service is next-generation education, designed to address the challenges of generational wealth transfer. While USD 5.8 trillion is expected to transfer in Asia by 2030, only 30 percent of wealth transitions successfully to the second generation, 13 percent to the third, and as low as 3 percent beyond that. This underscores the importance of equipping next-gens with the skills to lead, innovate, and transform their family enterprises while maintaining intergenerational harmony.

To meet these needs, we offer a structured diploma program through the Nanyang Succession Centre of Excellence, co-created with Nanyang Institute of Management. The curriculum focuses on leadership, innovation, business transformation, intergenerational communication, and governance, enabling the next generation to balance tradition with forward-looking strategies.

Beyond education, we provide tailored advisory services to help families implement governance structures, create family constitutions, and address unique challenges. Our approach integrates thought leadership through our journal — similar to Harvard Business Review — and practical expertise from a faculty of academics and practitioners who consult directly with families.

This university-style ecosystem ensures we deliver comprehensive, customised solutions to help family enterprises build sustainable legacies across generations.

How do you stay current with changing financial laws and regulations?

Indeed. Staying current is critical, especially with ongoing updates to tax incentives and financial policies in key hubs like Singapore, Hong Kong, and Dubai. We work closely with a network of domain experts — consulting firms, trust companies, and regulators — and actively engage at industry events to exchange insights and stay ahead of regulatory changes.

Also, our media arm, Family Fortune Times, plays a key role in keeping our clients and potential clients informed. It is designed to serve the 3,000 family office shareholders and leaders across Singapore, Hong Kong, and the region, ensuring they stay updated on the latest trends and regulations impacting family enterprises.

Why is Singapore such an attractive place to locate a family office?

Actually, you can find plenty of these reasons online too. I will just highlight three here.

Firstly, tax incentives and regulatory support — Singapore offers attractive tax exemptions under schemes like the 13O and 13U, designed to support family offices. The government actively fosters a business-friendly and transparent regulatory environment.

Secondly, political stability and safety — with a stable government, low crime rate, and strong rule of law, Singapore provides a secure and predictable environment for wealth preservation and business operations.

Finally, there is access to talent and networks — Singapore is home to a diverse pool of financial professionals, legal experts, and family office advisors, as well as a robust ecosystem of family office networks and forums. This takes a long time to build and I see this as Singapore’s unique advantage.

What is important in this fast-changing landscape? How do wealth advisers adapt?

Building trust is paramount in the evolving wealth advisory landscape, as the relationship between clients and advisors fundamentally hinges on trust. While technology, AI, and accessible knowledge have made data-driven insights and solutions easier to obtain, they cannot replace the human connection and personalised care that advisors provide. Advisors must focus on fostering strong, long-term relationships by understanding client values and priorities.

Today’s wealth owners are far younger, how does this transition manifest itself in the family office space?

Yes, the rise of younger generation owners is transforming the value of this space, with next-gen leaders prioritising impact investing, sustainability and purpose-driven wealth building. From our roundtable sessions with these next generations, it’s clear they are shifting from purely financial goals to creating legacies that balance profit and social impact.

Do you believe families have a responsibility to do something more with their wealth?

Wealthy families have a responsibility to help others, especially smaller businesses in the same industry. Big fish don’t have to eat small fish; they can coexist and even thrive together. It doesn’t have to be a winner-takes-all situation. By giving back and supporting others, big businesses can make their wealth more meaningful and create a better, fairer environment for everyone. This way, their success leaves a positive legacy, not just profits.

Yes, we do. Our advisor, Ms. Chen Mei-Na, who was the Deputy Secretary-General for China Green Foundation — one of the most successful charitable organisations in China — has worked with many businesses and families on impactful projects. We help clients set up non-profit foundations as part of our services. Our focus is on four main areas: legacy and succession planning, tax planning, philanthropy and investment management, with a strong emphasis on private equity and alternative investments.

How are Asia’s family offices adapting to the changing balance of geopolitical power?

Geopolitical shifts, like the US-China trade tensions, have really changed the game for family offices in Asia. A lot of them are diversifying their investments, moving into alternative assets like private equity, real estate, and tech — areas that can ride out some of the geopolitical noise. Singapore’s also become a bit of a hub because of its stability and business-friendly setup. There’s definitely a shift towards sustainable investing too, which not only aligns with long-term goals but also helps manage risks better. Well, at the bottom line, nobody can predict what Trump is thinking.

How would you describe an ideal client?

[Laughs] Someone who has ideally SGD 100 million in investable assets, aged 60 with kids between 15 to 30 plus old?

Bugatti Centodieci goes unsold at RM Sotheby’s Paris auction

0

The RM Sotheby’s Paris auction received a rather lukewarm response, barring a few highly exclusive collectables like the 1964 Ferrari 250 LM, which went for $36.2 million. The Bugatti Centodieci, though, remained unsold.

The Centodieci was expected to sell for upwards of $10 million. However, the highest bid it received was around $9 million, which was a surprise given its rarity.

Bugatti Centodieci for sale-RM Sothebys Paris auction-2

The Centodieci was built to celebrate the Bugatti’s 110th anniversary. It pays tribute to the legendary Bugatti EB110. This car was delivered to Switzerland in December 2022 and has just 272 miles on its odometer. It is finished in Quartz White and Grey Carbon over a Beluga Black and Gris Rafale leather interior.

The Centodieci is powered by an 8.0-liter W16 engine that delivers 1600 hp @ 7000 rpm. 0-60 mph comes up in 2.4 seconds, and the car will hit a top speed of 236 mph (electronically limited).

Ford Recalls Small Number of F-150 Trucks for Steering Issue

Ford Recalls Small Number of F-150 Trucks for Steering Issue

Ford has issued a tiny recall over a big problem. The issue affects just three 2024 F-150 pickups, but it can cause them to lose steering.

Ford tells federal safety regulators that factory workers mistakenly installed the wrong steering rack in the trucks. With the incorrect components, the pinion gear or rack teeth can break. That can cause the driver to lose steering control of the truck.

Ford knows precisely which vehicles were affected, so it should be able to contact owners quickly. The company says it has received no reports of accidents or injuries related to the problem, which was found in a factory inspection.

Dealers will replace the steering gear assembly to fix the problem.

As with all recalls, the repair is free.

Automakers recall many cars, often more than once, during their lifespan. Automakers try to contact every owner but don’t always reach them all. Find out whether your vehicle has any outstanding recalls with the easy VIN tool at our recall center.

2028 Porsche Cayenne Coupe EV spied for first time

0

  • An electric Cayenne based on the PPE platform is due for launch in the next 12-18 months
  • An electric Cayenne Coupe variant is also coming, a prototype for which has been spotted
  • Gas and plug-in hybrid Cayennes will live alongside the electric generation

Porsche is out testing prototypes for an electric Cayenne, and the latest prototype spotted is for the more rakish Cayenne Coupe body style.

The Cayenne Coupe EV looks like an elongated Macan EV, as the front-end designs of the two vehicles are very similar. The Cayenne Coupe EV stands out due to its more muscular proportions and more sloping rear.

The similarities to the Macan EV go beyond exterior styling, as the two vehicles will share a platform—in this case, Volkswagen Group’s PPE modular platform designed for premium EVs. The platform is flexible enough to support low- and high-riding models in multiple size categories.

For the Macan EV, the platform accommodates a 100-kwh (95-kwh usable) battery pack and a motor driving each axle. Combined output for the Macan EV currently tops out at 630 hp in the Turbo model, and even higher outputs are likely for the Cayenne EV and Cayenne Coupe EV.

Although not yet confirmed, a 4-motor powertrain could be available. This setup would provide not only high power output but also faster and more precise torque vectoring control. In 2019, Porsche stated that it was developing such a system.

The regular Cayenne EV is anticipated to arrive in 2026, likely as a 2027 model for the U.S. The coupe-like variant could potentially launch alongside it, though Porsche will most likely stagger the release by six months to a year. We currently expect a debut for the Cayenne Coupe EV in 2027, likely as a 2028 model for the U.S.

Originally, Porsche planned to phase out the current gas and plug-in hybrid Cayenne lineup with the arrival of the electric generation, but now the current Cayennes are set to receive a second round of updates to extend their shelf life.

Slowing growth in EV demand led Porsche to announce last summer plans to keep its Cayenne equipped with internal combustion engines well into the next decade, including V-8 engines. It will do this with other models too, like the Panamera. There are even rumors that Porsche is now considering redesigning its gas-powered Macan due to a slower-than-expected adoption rate for the electric version.

Time For A Yoga Retreat in the Galapagos Islands?

0

Have you ever wanted a unique opportunity to combine yoga with adventure and exploration in a natural wonderland?

A yoga retreat in the Galapagos Islands is the perfect way to experience the natural beauty of the islands and connect with your inner self.

Whether swimming with sea lions and sharks, spotting Galapagos penguins and flamingos, or watching the dance of marine iguanas and blue-footed boobies on volcanic rocks, this unique UNESCO World Heritage Site offers the perfect meld of yoga and an unblemished example of a wild and natural world.

Here’s an overview:

Why Pair Yoga and Adventure?

Partnering yoga with adventure creates a blend of physical challenges, mindfulness, and personal growth, combining the best of both worlds. Yoga is a grounding, restorative practice, while adventure introduces excitement, exploration, and the physical demands of outdoor activities.

Before or after a long and enjoyable day snorkeling or animal-spotting, yoga can be a calming way to start or end your day while you’re on vacation in the Galapagos Islands.

And because yoga is a balance between physical and mental strength training, it perfectly equips you with the stamina to take every adventure that comes your way.

The Benefits of Practising Yoga on Vacation

Mental clarity: Adventure activities can bring about stress, uncertainty, or fear (e.g., navigating difficult terrain or trying something new). Yoga helps ground you with mental clarity and emotional stability, allowing you to stay calm and focused when facing challenges.

Presence in the moment: Yoga teaches mindfulness, helping you stay present. In an adventurous setting, this can help you connect deeply with nature, your surroundings, and your own body, which leads to a more fulfilling experience.

Breath control: Both yoga and adventure activities emphasize the power of breath. In adventure, managing your breath helps maintain energy and stamina, while in yoga, breathwork deepens relaxation and control. Together, they complement each other.

Recovery and restoration: Adventure can be tough on the body, especially when you’re pushing limits. Yoga’s restorative poses aid in recovery, reducing tension, improving circulation, and helping the body regain balance after strenuous activities.

Personal growth and empowerment: Adventure often takes you out of your comfort zone, and yoga encourages self-awareness and acceptance. When combined, these can empower you to break through personal barriers and discover new strengths you never knew you had, both physically and mentally.

2026 Subaru Forester Wilderness ready to hit the trails

0

  • Subaru’s sixth-generation Forester has gained Wilderness and Hybrid models
  • The Forester Wilderness features 9.3 inches of ground clearance and 3,500 pounds of towing capacity
  • The Forester Hybrid introduces a next-generation hybrid powertrain developed with Toyota

The Subaru Forester was redesigned for the 2025 model year, but the rugged Forester Wilderness was missing from the lineup.

That is no longer the case, as Subaru on Thursday at the 2025 Chicago auto show revealed the sixth-generation Forester’s Wilderness model and confirmed it will be in showrooms this fall, arriving as a 2026 model. Pricing information will be announced closer to the market launch but as a guide, the outgoing model, which is still available for 2025, is priced from $36,415, including a $1,420 destination charge.

Like its predecessor, the 2026 Forester Wilderness is engineered for off-road adventures. It benefits from longer coil springs and shock absorbers than the standard Forester, resulting in an increased ground clearance of 9.3 inches, up from the standard 8.7 inches. Enhancing its rugged capabilities, the approach, departure, and breakover angles have also been improved, now measuring 23.5, 21, and 25.5 degrees, respectively. The SUV rides on a set of 17-inch wheels wrapped in Yokohama Geolandar all-terrain tires, providing enhanced traction on rough terrain.

To improve handling and ride comfort, Subaru has also increased overall torsional rigidity by approximately 10% through stronger welds and additional structural adhesive. The automaker claims these refinements not only improve dynamic performance but also contribute to a smoother and quieter ride.

The powertrain is the Forester’s standard 2.5-liter flat-4, which is rated at 180 hp and comes paired with a CVT and symmetrical all-wheel-drive system. Subaru said the towing capacity is 3,500 pounds, thanks in part to an uprated transmission cooler. The rear differential also features a temperature sensor and the drive mode selector comes with specific modes for handling snow and mud.

Other details that help the 2026 Forester Wilderness stand out from the standard Forester include standard roof rails with an 800-pound static load capacity rating (176 pounds dynamic), hexagonal fog lights, underbody protection, and copper-colored accents inside and out. Model-specific graphics also feature in the availalle 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster.

Subaru also used the Chicago auto show to reveal a new Forester Hybrid model that will be available this spring, as a 2025 model. Pricing will start at $36,415, including a $1,420 destination charge.

The 2025 Forester Hybrid features a next-generation hybrid powertrain that combines a 2.5-liter flat-4 running the Atkinson cycle, with Toyota’s planetary-gear hybrid system, with calibrations specific to the Subaru, including a stronger traction motor. The combined peak output is 194 hp, and drive is still to all four wheels via Subaru’s symmetrical all-wheel-drive system.

Subaru said owners can expect 40% better fuel economy on the EPA city cycle and up to 25% better fuel economy on the combined cycle compared to the regular Forester. And although peak output hasn’t increased much compared to the standard Forester, Subaru said the hybrid system’s stronger torque delivery helps with acceleration, especially at highway speeds. Passing times have improved 10-15%, the automaker said.

Porsche Taycan Ice Drift: Guinness World Record Shattered

0

Porsche has demonstrated the dynamic capabilities of the Taycan GTS in a rather unconventional way: setting a new Guinness World Record for the longest continuous drift on ice by an electric vehicle. Behind the wheel, Porsche instructor Jens Richter maintained a controlled oversteer for 132 laps, covering 17.503 km in just 46 minutes. This achievement marks the Taycan’s fourth Guinness World Record, bolstering its reputation as one of the most agile and high-performing EVs.

The record attempt took place on 14 January 2025 at the Porsche Arctic Center in Levi, Finland, 150 km north of the Arctic Circle. Initially, challenging ice conditions forced the first attempt to be abandoned after 11 km. However, as temperatures dropped, the team switched to shorter spikes on the Michelin tyres, allowing Richter to maintain the drift and significantly surpass the previous record of 14.809 km.

For the record, Porsche created a 59-metre drift circle on ice, equipping the Taycan GTS with a GPS system to document distance, steering inputs, and G-forces. The achievement was verified by Guinness World Records adjudicator Carl Saville, who presented the certificate to Richter and Porsche Arctic Center’s Managing Director, Christian Lehwald.

This latest record joins an impressive list of Taycan achievements, including altitude and speed records. Porsche’s commitment to pushing boundaries continues, proving that electrification and driving excitement can go hand in hand.
