2025 Ford Bronco vs. 2025 Jeep Wrangler Comparison

Although the current iteration of the Ford Bronco has only been around since 2021, its adversarial relationship with the Jeep Wrangler is one of the most intense rivalries in the automotive world. These are the only two off-road SUVs of their kind. They’re available in 2-door or 4-door configurations with removable doors and tops, they have standard 4-wheel drive, and you can still get either with a manual transmission.

The Ford Bronco was an off-road enthusiast’s dream come true when it was reborn in 2021. At last, a worthy rival to the dominant Jeep Wrangler had arrived, and it’s been impressing us ever since. In addition to its stellar capabilities and drool-worthy aesthetics, the Bronco earns our Best Resale Value Award in its class.

Ford Bronco Highlights

G.O.A.T. Modes: Every Ford Bronco comes with either six or seven G.O.A.T. (Goes Over Any Type of Terrain) modes. We’ll forgive the imprecise acronym because it’s fun to say. These finely tuned modes make the Bronco easier to drive on any terrain, including snow, sand, mud, and rocks.

Seven trims: Both SUVs have lots of variety in their respective model ranges and offer the same number of trims. For 2025, the Bronco sees the return of a low-cost base model, which rides alongside the comfy Outer Banks, the capable Badlands, the rambunctious new Stroppe Special Edition, nostalgic Heritage Editions, and of course…

Raptor: The Wrangler and the Bronco both have high-performance trims that border on ridiculous, but we have a soft spot for the Ford Bronco Raptor. It’s a faithful execution of the Raptor moniker with a thrilling turbo V6 engine, a HOSS 4.0 suspension system, 37-inch tires, and monster truck aesthetics.

The Jeep Wrangler is an SUV that needs no introduction, but we’ll give it a shot anyway. Since its debut in 1986 as the successor to the Jeep CJ, the Wrangler has been the gold standard in off-road SUVs, and its military-inspired appearance is instantly recognizable from a mile away. It hasn’t had a worthy challenger in a while, so the competition from the Bronco has forced this iconic Jeep to get even better.

Jeep Wrangler Highlights

More engine options: The Jeep Wrangler boasts four powertrain options: a V6, a turbo 4-cylinder, a plug-in hybrid with a turbo engine, and a stunning Hemi V8. You can’t get a hybrid powertrain or a V8 in the Ford Bronco.

Lower starting price: Even with the return of the base Bronco, the trusty Wrangler Sport is still around to offer off-road adventure with a starting price considerably lower than the Ford’s.

Bigger screen: Getting a stellar off-roader doesn’t mean you have to settle for old technology. The Uconnect 5 system in the Wrangler has a 12.3-inch anti-glare screen available with Trail Maps and Adventure Guides to help you find the good spots for off-roading with all of the info you need.

Similarities

The Ford Bronco and Jeep Wrangler are two interpretations of the same idea: a street-legal SUV that can go just about anywhere. Both are available as 2-door or 4-door models, both have available manual transmissions, and 4-wheel drive is standard on both. Also, their resale values are almost as impressive as their capabilities.

Conclusion

Both of these SUVs are so good and so comparable that which is better comes down to which team you want to side with. If you want people to put rubber ducks on your vehicle, you’ll have to go with the Jeep Wrangler. If you want the ability to say you have G.O.A.T. modes, the Ford Bronco is the rig for you.

The Wrangler does have the advantages of a plug-in hybrid option and a lower starting price. However, if your budget is over $40K and a hybrid isn’t important to you, this race is a dead heat.
