Mazda Australia is expanding its SUV range later this year to include a new pair of new large SUVs.
That will make Australia the only market to offer all four vehicles on the brand’s rear/all-wheel drive Large Architecture.
The two-row CX-60, aimed at markets like Europe and Japan, was launched here last year, followed by the three-row CX-90 developed for markets like North America.
They’ll be joined before the end of the year by the CX-70, a two-row companion to the CX-90; and the CX-80, a stretched, three-row version of the CX-60.
Mazda Australia has only released limited information on the local-market CX-70 and CX-80. There’s no pricing yet, while we only know a handful of specification details.
Even with the CX-9 gone and the CX-8 in runout, Mazda’s local SUV range will still be larger than it was 12 months ago.

Pricing
Mazda Australia has yet to confirm pricing for the CX-70 and CX-80, but CX-60 and CX-90 pricing is below:
CX-60
The CX-60 range opens at $60,550 before on-road costs for the petrol-powered Evolve, topping out at $88,800 before on-road costs for the plug-in hybrid Azami when equipped with either the SP or Takumi packages.

The CX-90 range opens at $74,550 before on-road costs for the petrol Touring, topping out at $101,130 before on-roads for the petrol Azami when equipped with either the SP or Takumi packages.

Powertrains
All vehicles on the rear/all-wheel drive Large Architecture feature an eight-speed automatic transmission and either a mild- or plug-in hybrid system.
Thus far, all models in this family introduced to Australia have come here exclusively with rear-biased all-wheel drive, though rear-wheel drive CX-60s are available in some markets.

CX-70
While Mazda Australia hasn’t released full specifications for the local-market CX-70, it has confirmed it will offer 3.3-litre turbocharged e-Skyactiv inline six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines.
The plug-in hybrid offered in North America has yet to be confirmed, though we’re getting the diesel engine that that market misses out on. It’s likely to be the same tune as the CX-90 detailed further below.

The CX-80 will be offered here with a choice of petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid powertrains.
As with the CX-70, Mazda Australia hasn’t released complete local specifications, leaving us to look at the European-market CX-80 in this case to fill in some gaps.
A petrol-powered CX-80 isn’t offered in Europe, but it seems likely the petrol model here will use the same powertrain as the CX-60 detailed above.

CX-90
