After the Miami GP, Formula 1 World Champion Max Verstappen flew to Germany to take part in a “secret test” with Ferrari. Don’t worry Red Bull fans, Max isn’t moving to the red team.
Verstappen was spotted testing the Ferrari 296 GT3 at the Nurburgring Nordschleife under the pseudonym ‘Franz Hermann’. However, eagle-eyed fans recognised the reigning world champion from his unique helmet.
Now, the reason Max tested a GT3 car at the Green Hell is unclear. We know that he regularly competes in virtual races, especially iRacing. Perhaps he has plans to try out his luck at sports car racing in real life as well.
We have seen Max destroy his opponents in a racing sim, and he clearly knows his way around the Nurburgring, as he went on to set a lap record during the test session with Ferrari.
According to racecar driver Misha Charoudin, Max did the lap record with a full tank of gas and in traffic!
Yes, some of Max’s on-track tactics have been questionable. But, no doubt, he is one of the greatest drivers of this era.
