Tesla’s Family-Friendly Electric SUV Drag Races Two Supercars


Carwow recently organized a drag race featuring the Tesla Model X Plaid, a family-friendly electric SUV, going head-to-head against two high-performance supercars—the Ferrari 296 GTS and the McLaren 750S.

The Ferrari 296 GTS boasts a 3.0L twin-turbo V6 paired with an electric motor, producing a combined 830 horsepower and 740 Nm of torque. Power goes to the rear wheels via an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission, and with a wet weight of around 1,700 kg, it costs a hefty £280,000.

The McLaren 750S features a 4.0L twin-turbo V8, delivering 750 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque through a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Weighing 1,389 kg wet, it starts at £254,000. The 750S was also named by Top Gear magazine as their “Performance Car of the Year.”

The Tesla Model X Plaid, with its three electric motors, churns out an astonishing 1,020 horsepower and 1,420 Nm of torque. This 2.4-ton behemoth uses a single-speed transmission and costs from £127,000.
