One of the hardest part of planning a trip to Boracay is choosing a place to stay. It’s true, but not because there are no decent hotel options. On the contrary, what makes it a difficult task is the sheer number of choices you’ll be bombarded with when you start searching for one. Choice paralysis realness.

Where is the best area to stay in Boracay? There is no short-and-sweet answer to this. But no worries, in this article, we’ll break down the key areas in Boracay and highlight the pros and cons for each, so you could make a more informed decision. We’re also including a list of the properties we have tried ourselves and the top options as ranked by online users.

Geography of Boracay

Before you go looking for accommodations, it is important to be familiar with the geography of Boracay, or at least the very basic of it. Boracay is quite small — much smaller than Bali or Phuket or Palawan. But it is bursting at the seams with possible lodging options.

Take a look at this map:

The landmass protruding from the lower right corner is Caticlan, part of mainland Aklan. Caticlan serves as the primary gateway to Boracay. Here, you’ll find both the Caticlan International Airport (aka Boracay Airport) and the Caticlan Jetty Port (sea port). Every tourist in Boracay passes through Caticlan.

Naturally, the passenger ports in Boracay — Cagban Port and Tambisaan Port — are along the edge closest to Caticlan.

You’ll also notice that Boracay is divided into three barangays (villages): Yapak, Bulabog, and Manoc-Manoc. You’ll encounter these barangay names when checking out hotel and resort addresses. But for tourists, it’s more practical to divide the island not by barangay but by beach. If you notice, Boracay’s shoreline is glazed with over a dozen beaches, the most famous of which are White Beach along the southwestern coast, Bulabog Beach on the east, and Puka Beach on the northernmost tip.

The most noteworthy here is White Beach, which harbors the greatest concentration of hotels and restaurants because it is the most stunning beach in Boracay. When you Google photos of Boracay, chances are you’ll be presented with images of White Beach, thanks to its powdery white sand glistening under the sun and crystal waters swaying in various shades of blue.

White Beach is further divided intro three boat stations — Station 1, Station 2, and Station 3 — spanning two barangays. But all three share just one beach. There is no physical border between them. Meaning, you can walk along the shore from one station to another without any problem. And if you do, you’ll quickly realize that each station has a distinct character and set of advantages and disadvantages.

STATION 1 (White Beach)

Best for: accessible peace and quiet

Station 1 is the most beautiful part of White Beach. It’s here that you’ll find the iconic Willy’s Rock (grotto) and the row of blue-sailed paraw boats that have become synonymous with the island.

But Station 1’s biggest pro is its quietness. Take another look at the map above. Station 1 is on the northern end of White Beach. Just next to it is Station 2, the busiest area in Boracay. The farther you move from Station 2, the calmer it gets. Hence, the southern end of Station 1 can still get a bit loud at times, especially in the morning. Station 1 is home to one of the two jumping off points for island hopping tours. (The other one is in Station 3.)

But the northernmost tip, near the so-called Lambros Point, is so silent, it’s almost sedating.

The catch is, it’s also the posh side of White Beach. Most of the properties here are on the higher end of the price spectrum. But there are a few exceptions, especially the hostels near the border with Station 2.

We were able to try the following:

• The Lind Boracay, an upscale resort that combines the proximity to White Beach and the amenities of luxury properties. Check Rates & Availability!
• Henann Crystal Sands Resort, the best of all the Henann resorts in Boracay. The rooms are standard Henann, but its infinity pool is perched on the second floor, overlooking the White Beach and allowing a glorious view of the sunset. Check Rates & Availability!

Unfortunately, most of the budget places we have tried here have closed down after the clearing operations done in 2018. We’ve also tried Frendz Hostel, which is technically in Station 2 but near the Station 1 border, so it’s not as hectic.

Top Hotels in Station 1

STATION 2 (White Beach)

Best for: Nightlife, easy access to restaurants and shops, and overall convenience

Station 2 is the epicenter of all the action in Boracay. It has the largest number of hotels, resorts, bars, restaurants, and shops. Why? If you take another glance at the map, you’ll find that in this part of the island, the distance between the shoreline and the main road widens, accommodating much more establishments closer to the beach. If you walk from the main road to the coast, you’ll probably pass by or through at least four resorts.

In fact, it’s here in Station 2 that you’ll find D’Mall, which is probably the single busiest area in the entire island. It’s also the most accessible as most transportation services pick up, drop off, or terminate around here. If you stay in Station 2, almost every main point of interest is within walking distance.

But this accessibility and busyness are also its main cons. It can get loud and noisy here, and it’s hard to find a spot or moment of tranquility. Try walking along the beach and you’ll be approached by touts countless times, offering a whole range of services from crystal kayak to henna tattoo to massage.

In Station 2, we have stayed at the following resorts and hotels, and we recommend all of them:

• Henann Park Resort, the latest Henann property to open to the public, so everything still looks, feels, and smells fresh and brand new. It’s not beachfront but along the main road so it’s accessible.Check Rates & Availability!
• Le Soleil de Boracay, fantastic location — beachfront and close to D’Mall — but surprisingly quiet inside the rooms. It also stands along an alley, making it accessible by e-trike or other vehicle from the main road. Check Rates & Availability!
• 8Colors Beach House, a small boutique lodge easily accessible from the main road and from the beach. It’s not beachfront but it’s literally a stone’s throw from it. It’s also very budget-friendly. Check Rates & Availability!

Top Hotels in Station 2

STATION 3 (White Beach)

Best for: Budget travelers who want to stay close to the beach

Often overlooked, Station 3 occupies the southernmost end of White Beach. Station 3’s beach is narrower and slightly steeper.

Like Station 1, it is also relatively calm. Fewer shops and restaurants line the beach and the streets, so the crowd also thins out. As I always say, if you follow the crowd, you’ll never reach Station 3. That’s because those coming from Station 1 get exhausted by the time they make it to Station 2. And those coming from Station 2 usually turn right, to Station 1.

While shops and restaurants are sparser in Station 3, it harbors most of White Beach’s budget accommodations, from smaller inns, backpacker’s hostels, and independent guesthouses. Years ago, one could find a room for only PHP 500 a night, but I’m not sure if that’s still possible these days.

In Station 3, you’ll also spot a floating jetty, one of the two boarding spots for island hopping tours. (The other one is in Station 1.)

STATION ZERO

Best for: Luxury travelers looking for a more private experience

Yes, Station Zero is a thing. But it’s not an official name. It’s just a nickname bestowed upon because it’s technically on the same side as White Beach’s three stations. But in actuality, it refers to a completely separate cove.

Confused? Okay, hold on. I’ll try to explain it. Beyond Station 1 on the same side of the island, you’ll find a series of smaller coves including the famed Diniwid Beach immediately after it. On the far end lies Banyugan Beach, which serves as the private beach for guests of Shangri-La Boracay. In between these two coves is Punta Bunga Beach, also known as Station 0, a strip of sand shared by three luxury resorts: Shangri-La Boracay (yes, it sits between two coves), Crimson Resort and Spa, and Movenpick Resort and Spa.

These are all high-end resorts, so only a few people get to access this beach. Room rates here play within the five-digit range, starting at PHP 11,000 per night. And that’s just the standard room. Suites can cost higher than PHP 30,000 per night. Super posh villas can set you back up to PHP 70,000 per night. Yes, these are mostly for the rich and famous, but most of the people I know who have stayed at any of these say that they’re worth it, especially if you’re really after luxury, privacy, and impeccable service. It’s also great for those who wish to celebrate a special or romantic occasion like honeymoon or anniversary.

Bulabog Beach

Best for: Budget travelers and water sport enthusiasts looking for an accessible beachfront place to stay

While White Beach glazes the western edge of Boracay, Bulabog Beach takes up much of its eastern coast. But unlike its more popular counterpart, the sand here isn’t something to write home about. It’s mostly rocky and covered in sea grass, which isn’t ideal for swimming and sun bathing. Regardless, it is still incredibly scenic, thanks to its picturesque row of coconut trees that have been attracting Instagrammers left and right.

Bulabog Beach is easily accessible from the main road or even from White Beach. From D’Mall, you should be able to reach Bulabog Beach ON FOOT in around 5 minutes, supposing you don’t have mobility issues. The terrain is mostly flat. While some properties entail a bit of walking, e-trikes and multi-cabs can conveniently drop you off or pick you up in the area.

It’s also the main playground for water sport enthusiasts. The beach is lined by kitesurfing and parasailing offices. Yet, despite the extreme activities and proximity to D’Mall, it remains quiet and fosters an atmosphere that is a far cry from the chaos in Station 2.

The best part, properties along Bulabog Beach charge much lower rates, often half than those along White Beach.

Inland Areas

Best for: Budget travelers who don’t mind staying away from the beach

It’s hard to delineate what can be considered “inland”, for the purpose of this article, we’re only including properties that are located in the area between Bulabog Beach and the main street. Meaning, if you’re coming from the port, it’s the area to the right of the road.

And yep, this area, although far from the beach, also hosts numerous hotels, resorts and apartments that won’t break the bank.

I’m the type of traveler that doesn’t mind staying at non-beachfront properties, especially in Boracay. The truth is, you don’t need to stay near White Beach to be able to access it. The main road stems into several alleys that lead to the beach. One can simply waltz and sashay to the beach.

In fact, I have stayed multiple times in an inland area near Station 2. I don’t know exactly what this zone is called but it can be reached by turning onto a steep street. It’s where these two properties stand:

• Villa D’enghien, a residential complex with a separate apartment building the rooms of which are being rented out to tourists. Some of the rooms are equipped with stove, kitchenware and utensils. Yes, cooking is allowed (in some rooms). On our last trip, we booked a 1-bedroom apartment for only PHP 1400 per night.
• Dakong Amihan Home, a Spanish colonial-style guesthouse that offers affordable bed-and-breakfast accommodations. It sits just next to Villa D’enghien. It’s been years since I stayed here, but I still remember how warm the staff, especially the owner was.

Boracay Newcoast

Best for: Travelers who wish a more quiet stay away from the crowd

Boracay Newcoast is the newest tourism and resort development project by Megaworld. Spanning 150 hectares of hilly landcape, it is tucked in the northeastern coast of the island. Think of it as a township detached from all the hustle and bustle of the island’s main tourist spots.

Newcoast encompasses a three smaller now-private coves south of Ilig-Iligan Beach and north of Lapuz-Lapuz Beach. It also owns the land that serves as the main access point to the Cujo Keyhole, a postcard-worthy natural arch that has become a major tourist attraction. All these coves face east, providing a front-row seat to the spectacular Boracay sunrise. Guests can also join a FREE sunrise tour that will take you to two of their private beaches.

More establishments have also been sprouting along its lanes, the most prominent of which are Savoy Hotel and Belmont Hotel. Both Savoy and Belmont are well-appointed 4-star properties that can make your stay more comfortable, more relaxing, and more special. For a standard room at either, you’ll have to shell out PHP 4000-6000 a night.

Boracay Newcoast also has a food market and a huge tent that can be a venue for conferences, corporate events, and even personal ones like weddings.

What’s the best area to stay?

The best area depends on your budget and preferences. We have tried staying at all of the areas mentioned above, and each has its own strengths.

• If you’re rolling in money and would love a more peaceful, more private stay, choose the luxury resorts at Station Zero.
• If you wish to stay somewhere secluded but you can only afford something mid-range, Boracay Newcoast is a good alternative.
• If you’re after accessibility and proximity to everything, choose Station 1 or 2. These two boat stations are the most convenient, location-wise. They’re also the best pick if you’re in Boracay for nightlife.
• If budget is a main concern, consider staying at a place in Station 3, Bulabog Beach, or somewhere further inland. You can easily find affordable hotels, inns, apartments and guesthouses in these areas. Don’t worry about your hotel not being beachfront. It’s easy to get around Boracay and most beaches are open to the public. You don’t need to stay in White Beach to get access to it.

As for me, my personal pick is Station 1 or Station 2 — beachfront or not — primarily because of convenience.

Being the largest alpine lake in North America means one very big thing for Lake Tahoe; that it’s humongous! Not only that, with it perched between snow-capped mountains and surrounded by magnificent pine forests, it’s a total gem to visit. Though, in my experience, it can be tricky to pinpoint the best things to do in Lake Tahoe during your trip. This is exactly why I wanted to share my favourite spots to see in and around Lake Tahoe itself.

I loved visiting Lake Tahoe and first clapped eyes on it via the California side in the heat of summer. It was amazing and loved every second of my time around the lake. Since then, we’ve visited the best spots in California and Nevada countless times, with Lake Tahoe being a firm favourite.

Packed-full to the brim with places to see, Lake Tahoe is one of the best travel spots in the country if you’re fond of the great outdoors.

It has everything from bumbling nature strolls, high-octane water sports, powdery ski slopes and even arduous mountain climbs. Trust me, Lake Tahoe and the surrounding area is just stunning and well worth a gander on a road trip around California or whilst in Nevada.

1.) Emerald Bay State Park

Many trails around Lake Tahoe lead to the Emerald Bay State Park, a designated National Natural Landmark and an Underwater State Park because of its gorgeous natural beauty.

Located on the west shore of Lake Tahoe, Emerald Bay State Park is a popular place to visit for its trails and a jump-off point to explore Vikingsholm mansion (which hosts summer tours) which are great to explore. 

Plus, from here, you can kayak the pristine shoreline of Emerald Bay itself. Rent a kayak from Kayak Tahoe and head out onto the open waters for the best morning adventure. It’s all so serene. 

Also, for some epic views, head towards Emerald Bay State Park Lookout. From here, you’ll get some epic views of Lake Tahoe and it’s the perfect starting point to hike down to the shoreline itself. 

For some tunes, head across to the Tallac Historic Site (nearby the park). It’s a cluster of historic estates made more popular by its festivals it hosts.

The two-day Gatsby Festival, held in August, is arguably one of the best. With a string of jazz concerts, themed events, and Roaring Twenties parties.

Alternatively, the Valhalla Estate hosts the iconic Valhalla Art, Music, and Theatre Festival, too. This features a full schedule of cultural performances, shows, and events at different venues within the estate.

Finally, after all that exploring, head over to Eagle Point Campground. Just be sure to camp responsibly as black bears frequent Emerald Bay quite regularly.

2.) Kings Beach

Nestled on the northern shores of Lake Tahoe, a visit to Kings Beach is a must as part of a wider road trip between California and Nevada.

Filled with independent boutiques, and food spots, it’s the kind of place to anchor yourself for a few days trip around the northern shores.

Afterwards, head towards Kings Beach State Recreation Area which is dotted with picnic spots to chill out on the shore. Plus, you can even rent a paddleboard or kayak if want to get out onto the lake itself. 

Alternatively, spend some time at the iconic Speedboat Beach or hike for the views to the Historic Stateline Fire Lookout. Yes, it might be steep at times but it’s a relatively short and easy hike for most hikers to complete.

3.) Echo Lake

Around a 25-minute drive from the shores of Lake Tahoe, Echo Lake is well worth a gander for a few hours galavant.

Popular in the warmer summer months, Echo Lake is a perfect spot for heading onto the water, while the surrounding area hosts plenty of hiking trails; especially the Lake Aloha Trail that’s so beautiful. 

Lower Echo has a lovely picnic site and is totally chilled. Best of all, you won’t find any massive crowds or hoards of people here. It’s pretty quiet.

Depending on when you visit, you can also partner this up with a ski trip to Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort that’s around 5-miles away. Just be sure to book your lift pass and ski rentals and watch out for the foodie spots on top of the mountain – they can be pricey! 

4.) D.L. Bliss State Park

Just shy of Emerald Bay, visiting D.L. Bliss State Park is one of the best things to do in Lake Tahoe if you’re looking for some peace and quiet. You see, it’s an area that isn’t really built up at all and feels like a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of the towns. 

Fancy staying overnight? The campground is available if you want to stay overnight, with plenty of tent spots, firepits, and shower areas to boot. 

Feeling active? There’s a heap of kayaking opportunities on Lester Beach and hiking the Rubicon Trail to see the Historic Rubicon Point Light is a must for the views. 

Oh, and don’t forget the cosy Calawee Cove Beach which can be spotted at the bottom of the park.

5.) Tahoe Rim Trail

If you’re up for a challenge, the Tahoe Rim Trail will provide all the fun, excitement, and aching calves that you’re looking for.

At a whopping 165-miles long, this loop trail circles around Lake Tahoe and can be completed in sections or in one mighty go! Personally, for big hikes like this, I just choose sections that I want to visit most. This way, you can take up many smaller day-hikes on several trailheads rather than just being exhausted on one long trail. 

Passing through Desolation Valley and Carson Range, the Tahoe Rim Trail will give you sweeping panoramas of mountain peaks, lakes, and meadows along the way. It’s stunning. 

Just be sure to pack a good pair of hiking boots, plenty of SPF and always hike responsibly as bears also call Lake Tahoe home. 

6.) Mt. Tallac Hike

At 9,735 feet, Mt. Tallac is one of the highest mountain peaks around Lake Tahoe.

Although the route itself is challenging for an average hiker, the entire journey and the view at the top will be so worth it. Taking you through loose rocks and crushed granite, the Mt. Tallac Hike will give you great views of Fallen Leaf Lake and a close-up encounter of Gilmore Lake and Cathedral Lake along the way.

At the top, you’ll see some epic views across Lake Tahoe. Plus a breathtaking panorama of Granite Lake, Fallen Leaf Lake, and Desolation Wilderness, too!

Just remember, as I said before, this is a hike for the most experienced hikers amongst us.

7.) Sand Harbor State Park

Located on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe, the fifty-plus acres of Sand Harbor State Park is totally gorgeous to enjoy.

With sandy beaches, fragrant pine forests (I can still remember the smells), and hidden coves; it’s one of the best things to do in Lake Tahoe when in Nevada.

Perfect for either a slow day of sightseeing or a more adventurous time filled with water activities, it’s the kind of place that’s got a little bit of something for everyone. 

For the latter, Sand Harbor Rentals is a go-to destination if you want to rent a kayak. Plus, the Sand Point Nature Trail and the Memorial Point Trail offer stunning views of coves and beaches.

Oh, and don’t forget to book tickets for the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival that hosts some epic outdoor performances right within the park.

8.) Eagle Rock Hiking Trail

Situated a few hundred feet above the main area of Lake Tahoe, Eagle Rock is a volcanic outcrop that has some dazzling vistas over the area.

Now, because it is on the west shore of Lake Tahoe and just four miles away from Tahoe City, the Eagle Rock Hiking Trail is an accessible and highly popular hiking trail in Lake Tahoe. This means you can finish the trail in about 20 minutes and immediately be rewarded with a sweeping view of Lake Tahoe and how vast the area actually is.

Though, the only downside is that it can get pretty busy at peak times. To avoid a crowded trail, head over first thing in the morning and avoid weekends.

9.) Ed Z’berg Sugar Pine Point State Park

Whether you’re looking for an indoor tour or an outdoor adventure, the Ed Z’berg Sugar Pine Point State Park has it all. Plus, it’s one of the best things to do in Lake Tahoe if you’re travelling down from Tahoe City towards the southern limits of the shoreline.

Be sure to explore the Hellman-Ehrman Mansion that is totally amazing. It was once the vacation residence of the opulent family of financier Isaias W. Hellman. Once here, you can tour inside the mansion and take a nosey around the interior. You’ll get to see the authentic Navajo rugs and the redwood panelling of the dining rooms.

If you’re visiting in the summer, you’ll likely want to head on some of its trails.

During the winter, or cooler months, head to nearby Homewood Mountain Resort that has some of the best ski slopes surrounding Lake Tahoe. The views are phenomenal and they have a heap of runs for all abilities.

10.) Tahoe Treetop Adventure Park (Tahoe City/Granlibakken)

A totally different kind of outdoor activity, the Tahoe Treetop Adventure Park is a must-visit spot to stretch your leps.

Featuring tree-top platforms, ziplines, and bridges (up to 50 feet high), the Tahoe Treetop Adventure Park is so much fun. Though, you do seem to work out muscle groups you never even knew you had! I was aching so badly afterwards!

But the best part is, decent plans can cost only a few dollars a day.

After 10-years of travel, I’ve had quite a few incidents happen on the road (Dengue Fever, a stolen camera, phone, etc.) So I never travel without insurance to protect me from these unexpected situations.

My goal with this travel insurance guide is to help you narrow down the overwhelming choices out there — and pick some good travel insurance whether you’re traveling for 2-weeks or 6-months.

Types Of Travel Insurance

There are a few different kinds of travel insurance, and some plans cover more than others.

You’ll have to ask yourself a few questions before picking a plan. Are you a short-term traveler going away for a week or two? Or are you a long-term traveler leaving for 6-months or more?

Do you carry a lot of expensive photo/computer gear, or not?

Will your current health insurance cover you overseas? How much will it cover? Does it include medical evacuation? Do you have any pre-existing conditions?

Are you the type of person who books hotels/flights/activities in advance? Or do you just wing it and pay for these services as you use them? Are you worried your trip might get canceled?

Travel Medical Insurance is coverage for accidents, injuries, illness, or hospital visits while you are away from home.

Medical Evacuation Insurance is coverage for emergency transportation (often via airplane) to a major hospital for better treatment.

Trip Cancellation Insurance is coverage for unexpected interruptions in your travel plans.

Baggage/Property Insurance is coverage for theft or damage to your gear while traveling.

World Nomads specializes in short-term travel coverage, including theft, and are very popular among travelers. I used them for years before I decided to get long-term expat type insurance instead.

Long-Term Insurance For Digital Nomads & Expats

Because I’m a digital nomad and travel with thousands of dollars of camera equipment for work, I have a more long-term travel insurance mindset. I use an expat dedicated health insurance policy, combined with a gear policy for professional photographers.

This mix is more expensive than a World Nomads Policy, but works best for my long-term travel lifestyle.

Credit Card Travel Insurance

Many travel credit cards often include some basic travel, theft, and even car insurance (which is great for renting a car overseas). Call your card company up to get details on what is exactly covered (or not).

Do You Need Travel Insurance?

This is the million-dollar question — and ultimately a personal decision. I’ve met plenty of people who travel without travel insurance and I’ve contemplated doing the same.

But after over 10-years of constant travel, hearing horror stories from other travelers, and getting into a few dangerous predicaments myself — if someone asks for my opinion on the subject I answer with:

YES. Everyone should carry some kind of health/property insurance when traveling.

Why? Because stuff happens. Whether you think it will or not. Despite your best-laid plans and preventative measures. Sure, if you sprain your ankle, it might not be a big deal.

But what if your appendix bursts? Or your bus crashes? Or you contract a deadly disease? Or require medical evacuation after breaking your leg?

These things definitely happen to travelers from time to time, and could cost you tens (or hundreds) of thousands of dollars. Without insurance, you’re screwed!

My recommendation is based on listening to countless first-hand tales of disaster from other travelers, as well as my own personal experiences.

Real-Life Examples

I know a woman traveling in Costa Rica who fell off a ladder, shattering her arm. She did not have health insurance, received horrible treatment at the local hospital, and was basically held hostage there until she was able to pay the HUGE medical bill.

Another person I know lost everything he was traveling with when his locked guesthouse in Ecuador was broken into. Without personal property insurance, he would have needed to spend thousands replacing all his gear.

Another friend contracted a flesh-eating parasite while trekking through the jungles of Peru. He required months worth of treatment from specialized doctors, and a medical evacuation flight back to the United States.

These are all people I know personally.

Making An Insurance Claim

Insurance companies are notorious for trying to avoid paying out claims. Making a claim might take some work on your part, depending on the situation. Here are a few tips for getting paid through travel insurance:

• If you’re having issues filing a claim, always work your way up the corporate ladder. Talk to a supervisor. Then talk to the supervisor’s supervisor. Make your claim issues public using Social Media if needed.
• Record conversations. At the beginning of every phone call, tell the other party you’re recording the conversation to ensure no misunderstandings later.
• When filing a police report of any kind, keep the story simple. The longer and more in-depth the report, the easier it is for insurance companies to find a loophole to deny your claim.

Additional Travel Insurance Tips

• Read the fine print first! Know what you’re covered for. For example, some policies don’t cover extreme sports or theft of unattended items.
• Take photos or a video of all your travel gear with a date stamp.
• Save PDF copies of any travel gear purchases & hospital receipts. Keep originals too.
• Write down serial numbers, policy numbers, and insurance contact information.
• Store this information online in a secure, easy to access place. I use Evernote. Another good option is Dropbox or Google Drive.
• File a police report immediately after any theft or accident while traveling.

No one likes to think about theft or injury when they’re on vacation, but the threat is real, and without good travel insurance, an unexpected incident could ruin the rest of your year. Never travel without it! ★

Another super cool thing to do in Jacksonville at night is to test your wits in an escape room. You’ll solve puzzles and gather clues to escape from a themed room before time runs out. This is one of my favorite things to do in Jacksonville with my friends.

Some of the themed rooms include ‘Prison Break’, where you’ll need to escape from an evil warden, or the ‘Playground’, where you’ll need to get your report card checked off before you can leave.

6. Nights of Lights Pirate Ship Tour

If you happen to be visiting the Jacksonville area during the holidays, the Nights of Lights Pirate Ship Tour in St. Augustine is an absolute must. It’s one of the most stunning array of holiday lights that I’ve ever seen – and I’ve seen my fair share.

St. Augustine is 45 minutes south of Jacksonville, and it’s one of the most charming and beautiful cities I’ve ever visited. During the holiday months, the entire city is adorned in lights, and it’s truly a sight to behold – it’s quite magical.

8. Have a Fancy Cocktail at Volstead

Out of all the cocktail bars in Jacksonville, The Volstead is my number one favorite. This speakeasy-style bar creates some of the most delicious, handcrafted cocktails I’ve ever tasted. Plus, it’s incredibly gorgeous inside!

The cozy atmosphere is relaxed and elegant. Order yourself a Manhattan or Gin Fizz, or if you want to get crazy, try one of their signature cocktails, – I recommend The Goat with a tart blueberry cordial, goat cheese foam, and lavender chamomile salt.

What better way to spend the night in Jacksonville than with some good belly laughs? The First Coast Comedy Club is one of my favorite stops in the city. They always have some of the funniest acts around, and it’s all improv.

Since the comedians are all improv with no plan, the entire show is based on the audience’s suggestions – which, as you can imagine, can get pretty hilarious and random. They truly are professionals.

If you’re in Jacksonville on the first or third Wednesday of the month, the Museum of Contemporary Art hosts Museum Nights. From 5 pm to 9 pm, you can experience an evening of art, cocktails, and snacks.
