Amish Man Saves SUV Stranded In Snow With His Horses

An Amish man in a tiny Tennessee town decided to stop and help out a driver stranded in tricky winter conditions. The driver’s white SUV somehow ended up stuck in a ditch. The passerby helped out in the best way he could, tying his pair of horses to the SUV’s tow hitch. The driver might have been spinning the wheels in reverse and a couple of people pushing from the front, but we know the horses did the majority of the heavy lifting.

The entire recovery effort was recorded by local resident Sandra Sam Newton, according to the Detroit Free Press. Her commentary alone is worth watching the video for. She and another person will on the horses from their vehicle. When the SUV gets tugged back onto the road, Newton adds joyfully, “We got ‘er done.”

It’s difficult not to be impressed by those horses putting in that kind of work. While most of the country might have abandoned the horse and buggy a century ago, the method of transport can still prove to be just as capable as our cars and trucks in a few situations. In fact, there’s an added benefit to horses when it comes to navigating tricky situations like this one.

The horse and buggy might be an antiquated piece of technology, but it can still throw a few curveballs. A few years ago, A Maryland man went on the ride of his life when his horse got spooked as he was tying it up to the buggy. The horse ran out onto the road and pulled the buggy along with it. The carriage swung out on the pavement, practically drifting and throwing sparks from the wheel. It was a real spectacle for a vehicle without a motor.
