Major Moves: Loewe Appoints Former Proenza Schouler Designers As Creative Directors; Mugler Names A New Designer

0

MARCH 2025: Loewe appoints former Proenza Schouler designers, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, as its creative directors (Photo: Loewe)

With the global economy slowing down, the fashion industry has never been more volatile — and designers have never been more vulnerable. In the past year, the fashion news cycle has seen plenty of creative directors come and go between coveted top spots at the helm of luxury brands. Veteran figures like Hedi Slimane and John Galliano left their roles at Celine and Maison Margiela respectively, with nothing else lined up (as far as we know). There were some exciting changes, too: last December, Matthieu Blazy left Bottega Veneta to join the house of Chanel, ending months of rumours and speculations about who would be Virginie Viard’s successor. Meanwhile, his former role at Bottega Veneta was taken up by Louise Trotter, the former creative director of Carven.

If 2024 was full of twists and turns in fashion’s so-called “game” of musical chairs, 2025 is already looking to outdo it. Ahead, tune into all the major shifts within the fashion industry and catch up on all the fashion news to know, from creative director appointments to departures.

Mugler Names A New Creative Director As Casey Cadwallader Exits

MARCH 2025: Mugler appoints Miguel Castro Freitas as creative director (Photo: Robi Rodriguez, courtesy of Mugler)

Hot on the heels of Loewe’s major announcement, Mugler has named its new creative director: Miguel Castro Freitas.

Freitas succeeds Casey Cadwallader, who has helmed Mugler since 2018. During his seven-year tenure, Cadwallader reinvigorated the French fashion brand founded by Thierry Mugler with a fresh energy, offering bodycon styles and cut-out catsuits that were embraced by popstars like Beyoncé, Dua Lipa and more.

Freitas is a relatively behind-the-scenes figure in the fashion industry. Prior to his appointment at Mugler, the Portugal-born designer and Central Saint Martins graduate worked at Lanvin, Dior (first during John Galliano’s tenure, and again under Raf Simons), Dries Van Noten and, most recently, Sportmax, Max Mara’s sister brand.

In a statement, Danièle Lahana-Aidenbaum, the global brand president of Mugler Fashion and Fragrances, said: “Miguel lives and breathes the Mugler spirit. His deep understanding of Mugler’s DNA and his vast creativity and talent made him a natural choice.”

Freitas will join Mugler officially on 1 April. He will present his first Mugler collection during the Spring/Summer 2026 season at Paris Fashion Week this September.

Loewe Appoints Former Proenza Schouler Designers As Creative Directors

On 24 March, Loewe named not one but two new creative directors: Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, formerly of Proenza Schouler.

McCollough and Hernandez will take the helm of the Spanish luxury fashion brand from 7 April. The designer duo will oversee all of Loewe’s collections, including womenswear, menswear, leather goods and accessories.

In a joint statement, the designers shared, “We are incredibly honoured to join Loewe, a house whose values and mission align closely with our own. We look forward to working alongside its extraordinary teams and artisans, whose talent—under the exceptional creative direction of Jonathan Anderson—has shaped Loewe into the cultural force it is today.”

The news comes just a week after Jonathan Anderson announced his departure from Loewe, ending his 11-year tenure. McCollough and Hernandez exited Proenza Schouler in January 2025 after an even longer tenure. The pair, who met at Parsons School of Design, founded Proenza Schouler in 2002 and immediately established it as one of New York’s most beloved fashion brands. They went on to win five CFDA awards at their womenswear label.

Sidney Toledano, the chief executive of the LVMH Fashion Group, said in a statement, “I have long admired Jack and Lazaro’s work at Proenza Schouler, their eclectic creativity and dedication to craft make them a natural choice to build the next chapter for Loewe.”

Jonathan Anderson Exits Loewe After 11 Years

Jonathan Anderson has officially announced his exit from Loewe.

The fashion designer shared the news of his departure on Instagram, a few days after Loewe’s Fall/Winter 2025 collection was presented at Paris Fashion Week.

“Eleven years ago, I was given the most incredible opportunity: to write a chapter in a story that is now 179 years old,” wrote Anderson. “They say all good things must come to an end, but I disagree. While my own chapter draws to a close, Loewe’s story will continue for many years to come and I will look on with pride.”

Anderson joined Loewe as creative director in 2013, and he spent the next 11 years shaping the Spanish luxury house with his eccentric vision. At Loewe’s fashion shows for men and women, he often unveiled surreal items that would go viral, like balloon shoes and hoop dresses. He also oversaw the brand’s buzzy collaborations with On, Studio Ghibli and Paula’s Ibiza.

Anderson also launched the Loewe Craft Prize in 2016. The designer wrote, “We created a platform that genuinely supports and gives visibility to vanishing crafts, young makers, old masters, and new ideas. I would like to thank the (Loewe) Foundation team, the members of the Jury and Expert panel for their time and dedication.”

Reflecting on his legacy at Loewe, Anderson wrote, “Since day one, I envisioned creating a cultural brand. This idea relied heavily on the trust and generosity of the many artists, craftspeople, estates, foundations, museums and galleries who contributed their work. I am sincerely grateful to you all.”

Anderson’s successor at Loewe has not been named. Many fashion insiders speculate that Anderson is headed to Dior (Kim Jones stepped down from his role as creative director of Dior Men in January 2025). The designer will continue to helm his eponymous label, JW Anderson.

Demna Is The New Artistic Director of Gucci

After 10 years at Balenciaga, Demna has been appointed to the role of artistic director at Gucci, one of the biggest fashion houses in the industry. He is expected to join the house early July, after presenting his final couture collection for Balenciaga.

“I am truly excited to join the Gucci family. It is an honour to contribute to a House that I deeply respect and have long admired. I look forward to writing together with Stefano and the whole team a new chapter of Gucci’s amazing story,” the designer said in a statement.

Donatella Versace Steps Down As Creative Director; Dario Vitale Succeeds Her As Chief Creative Officer

MARCH 2025: Dario Vitale is the new chief creative officer of Versace (Photo: Versace/Stef Mitchell)

Over in Milan, Donatella Versace has stepped down as creative director of Versace after 30 years in the role. She will take on the newly created role of chief brand ambassador, while Dario Vitale, who cut his teeth at brands like Miu Miu and Bottega Veneta, has been installed as the brand’s new chief creative officer.

“I am truly honoured to join Versace as the chief creative officer and to be a part of this special and powerful fashion luxury House created by Gianni and Donatella,” Vitale said in a statement. “The House of Versace has a unique heritage that has spanned decades and has shaped the history of fashion. I want to express my sincere thank you to Donatella for her trust in me, and for her tireless dedication to the extraordinary brand that Versace is today. It is a privilege to contribute to the future growth of Versace and its global impact through my vision, expertise and dedication.”

Following the announcement, Donatella shared a heartfelt Instagram post following the news with the caption, “I hope I’ve made you proud so far”, undoubtedly a dedication to her late brother Gianni Versace, who founded the brand in 1978.

Sabato De Sarno Leaves Gucci

Sabato De Sarno is leaving Gucci after two years. The news was announced via a statement from the Italian luxury brand on 6 February.

In that statement, Gucci CEO Stefano Cantino says, “I would like to express my deep gratitude to Sabato for his passion and dedication to Gucci. I sincerely appreciate how he honoured Gucci’s craftsmanship and heritage with such commitment.”

De Sarno joined Gucci as its creative director in 2023, succeeding Alessandro Michele. The Italian fashion designer brought a minimalist vision to Gucci’s womenswear and menswear collections, with a focus on wardrobe staples, coats and tailoring. His Gucci campaigns were similarly straightforward, and he made an effort to spotlight emerging models in them. De Sarno also tapped celebrities like Dakota Johnson, Kendall Jenner, Paul Mescal and Debbie Harry to front Gucci’s campaigns.

The 41-year-old designer started his fashion career as an assistant pattern-maker at Prada, and during his early years at Valentino, where he was design director, he focused on designing men’s coats. De Sarno’s tenure at Gucci, which he joined after leaving Valentino, lasted two years.

De Sarno’s successor is yet to be announced. Gucci will present a collection from its in-house design team during its Fall/Winter 2025 fashion show on 25 February, during Milan Fashion Week.

Kim Jones Exits Dior

Kim Jones is leaving Dior. The British designer is making his exit mere days after presenting his Dior Men’s Fall/Winter 2025 collection in Paris, which received a standing ovation. In January 2025, Jones was also awarded the Knight of the Legion of Honor, France’s highest civilian honour.

Jones spent seven years at the helm of Dior, taking over Kris Van Assche in 2018. He drew upon the maison’s rich archives of womenswear and haute couture to create desirable menswear. He also created buzz with a string of collaborations with the likes of Nike, Kaws, Shawn Stussy, Hajime Sorayama, Travis Scott and Lewis Hamilton.

On top of being recognised at the CFDA and the British Fashion Awards, Jones was also awarded an OBE by Queen Elizabeth II in 2020. The news of Jones’s departure from Dior comes three months after he stepped down at Fendi, where he served as artistic director of haute couture and women’s ready-to-wear.

In a statement, Jones said, “It was a true honour to have been able to create my collections within the house of Dior, a symbol of absolute excellence. I express my deep gratitude to my studio and the ateliers who have accompanied me on this wonderful journey. They have brought my creations to life. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the artists and friends I have met through my collaborations. Lastly, I feel sincere gratitude towards Bernard and Delphine Arnault, who have given me their full support.”

Dior has yet to announce Jones’s successor.

Glenn Martens Joins Maison Margiela

JANUARY 2025: Glenn Martens is the new creative director of Maison Margiela (Photo: Instagram / @kylieminogue)

Glenn Martens has been named as the new creative director of Maison Margiela.

The Belgian designer succeeds John Galliano, who left the Paris-based fashion label in December 2024 after a decade.

“I have worked with Glenn for years, I have witnessed his talent, and I know what he is capable of,” said Renzo Rosso, chairman of OTB Group, which owns Maison Margiela. The label was founded in 1988 by Belgian designer Martin Margiela, who retired from the fashion industry in 2009.

“After Martin, who gave life to the maison and its unique Artisanal line, and John who made it the most cutting-edge couture house in the world, I am proud to have a third couturier at its helm,” added Rosso. “Glenn, who studied at Antwerp’s Royal Academy of Fine Arts like Martin, has already shown his prowess and his vision in couture.”

Martens is currently the creative director of Diesel — also owned by OTB Group — and was formerly at the helm of Y/Project. The 41-year-old designer left his role as creative director of Y/Project in September 2024, and the French fashion was shuttered in January 2025.

The date of Martens’s first fashion show for Maison Margiela is yet to be announced.

The announcement from Maison Margiela and its parent company OTB Group did not specify when Martens would show his first collection for the brand.

Fishing in Alaska – Travel Dudes

0

This is the first in a series of articles on fishing in Alaska. For the record, I am a 50-year resident of Alaska. I came here as a young man from Colorado seeking opportunity and adventure. Alaska did not disappoint.

I’m a boat captain, fish guide, lodge owner, pilot, adventurer, former State Senator, and Natural Resource Manager for the State of Alaska. I grew up fishing in South Florida on the saltwater.

The Florida ocean was beautiful, but I am truly spoiled with some of the most beautiful fishing vistas in the world. Beachfront condos of the SE Florida coastline are no match.

Here’s an overview:

Treehouse Cove

Get ready to soak up some genuine Alaskan hospitality at Treehouse Cove in Seldovia! This hidden gem is one of the most secluded and historic towns in Alaska, and it’s the perfect spot for a memorable getaway.

Choose between the cozy Treehouse or the charming Beach House, both offering their own unique vibes. You won’t have to worry about meal prep here—every meal is lovingly prepared for you. Plus, daily adventures like fishing, kayaking, and hiking are all included in your stay!

Don’t miss out — BOOK NOW and start your Alaskan adventure!

How Much Water Is in Alaska?

Alaska has more coastline than the continental United States coasts combined.

There are 34,000 miles of mainly wilderness coastline in Alaska, and Alaska has over 12,000 rivers that eventually feed into that ocean.

If the State of Alaska became two equal-sized states, Texas would be the third-largest state in the USA. (Sorry, Texas friends, but you know it’s true.)

Where To Fish?

If you fished Alaska every day, you still could not explore all that Alaska has to offer. However, Homer, Alaska, and the lower Kenai Peninsula offer some of Alaska’s most cost-effective (easy access) and productive salt and freshwater fishing.

There is an old saying: “You eat an elephant one bite at a time.”

For the first bite of the proverbial elephant, this article will focus on Kachemak Bay Lower Cook Inlet and the Gulf of Alaska Coast. AKA the “Halibut Capital of the World.” Homer, Alaska.

Homer and Seldovia offer a high-quality experience with reasonable accessibility and low cost. On the way down to Homer, the Kenai River still has strong runs of red salmon, excellent rainbows, and silver salmon. Double up with a charter in both places and experience some unforgettable world-class fishing.

Homer’s Fishing is Legendary

Situated on the Kachemak Bay Archipelago, with stunning mountains and glaciers of the Kenai Range to the south and three volcano peaks in view from across Cook Inlet to the west, few places in the world are more beautiful to fish.

They exist, but are primarily in other more inaccessible and expensive parts of Alaska. I’ll get to some of those exotic spots in future articles.

Homer Is Famous for the “Homer Spit”

A five-mile-long gravel bar that extends about halfway across Kachemak Bay.

It has a very overcrowded harbor, home to many fish guides taking their clients out to pursue mostly halibut and multi-species of salmon, rockfish, ling cod, and grey cod.  We’ve all seen the pictures of giant “barn door” size halibut.

Indeed, the Homer Chamber of Commerce hosts the annual “Homer Halibut Derby” to see who can catch the biggest fish.  You have to buy a ticket to win, so it’s nerve-wracking for those who reel in big fish if they did not purchase a derby ticket.

That being said, this conservationist asks that if you are lucky enough to catch a monster fish over 100 lbs, please carefully consider beforehand whether you will keep it. The primary reason to consider not keeping it is because virtually all large halibut over 100 lbs are female brood stock.  You kill thousands of baby halibut when those brood fish are kept and not released unharmed.

I’ve caught and eaten large halibut, and the meat is poor in quality, tougher than a young fish, and dryer, and the texture is not nearly as good. Some say it’s dog food quality.

Big Fish Excitement

However, boating a very large halibut is REALLY fun!

Even those less than 100 lbs are a real challenge. We usually harpoon and shoot them with a 22 caliber or 410 shotgun; yes we literally shoot them! (While in the water.)

A large halibut, brought into the boat violently flops around, potentially hurting a crew member and or damaging the boat.  I’ve heard stories of over-excited boat skippers actually shooting holes in the bottom of their boats when trying to snuff the fight out of violent halibut.

I personally like to harpoon the big ones and give them a float, like they did in the movie Jaws, with the shark. The halibut immediately rips the float out of the boat and dives for the deep.  You have to be careful to not have the line wrapped around your leg, or you will be dragged under too; they are that powerful!

There’s usually lots of splashing going on either way to get them aboard and subdued. All fish should be immediately bled to improve their quality. If one ties a line from their mouth to their tail, it will keep them from going nuts in your boat.

They will appear subdued for a long time, then suddenly get the last burst of energy and start thrashing. It’s really exciting to boat a bunch of nice-sized halibut and the occasional big one. To manage expectations, most halibut boated are smaller fish, with the better guides bringing in a few good-sized keepers. It is an investment in a long boat ride to get on bigger fish.

Fun day—family fishing experience at the Treehouse Cove Lodge in Alaska, USA.

What To Expect

Getting to the halibut grounds out of Homer is already a long boat ride, and the best-kept secret for a better halibut experience is to base your fishing out of the quaint village of Seldovia.

Seldovia is a historic little fishing village about 17 miles West of Homer.  It is being rediscovered as the place to go for better fishing. This is about 1/2 way to the good halibut fishing grounds, so when you stay and fish out of Seldovia, you are spending less time traveling and more time fishing.

You have more opportunities to find bigger fish with less travel time.

The Seldovia locals are friendly, there are great hiking trails, plus some really special music and festival events planned all summer.  It has several good eating establishments, like the iconic Lynwood Bar, and a variety of hotel, B&B, and lodge accommodations.

It has a new coffee shop that roasts its own beans, and some say it’s the best coffee ever. I know this, because I pretty much hate coffee, and it does not make me gag!

Lynwood Bar in Seldovia, Alaska, USA.
Lynwood Bar in Seldovia, Alaska, USA.

The Seldovia charter fishing fleet is growing, as word is getting out that it’s the go-to place to fish. Plus, the prices are more reasonable in western Kachemak Bay than the old establishment lodges nearer to Homer.

You can’t beat the charm and beauty of Seldovia.

Targeted multi-species in Cook Inlet/Kachemak Bay include king, sockeye, silver, chum and pink salmon, rockfish, ling cod, and grey cod.

Sockeye salmon generally do not bite in the salt but can be caught near hatcheries and river inlets by snagging in salt water. Kings are the prized fish, but lately, the king return numbers have been really poor, and catching one is getting harder and harder. Winter king fishing is actually better than spring fishing.

Silvers tend to be later in the summer, around August, and can provide consistently fun action, as they are aggressive eaters and fighters.

Pinks and chums are usually abundant—fun to catch but not the best table fare for most Alaskan salmon snobs.

All have specific times they migrate through various reaches of salt water as well as when they go upriver to spawn. Check with your local guide or the Department of Fish and Game before planning your trip.

Ling cod season does not open until July, as they are spawning in spring and early summer. They are prized eating fish.

Grey cod are abundant in Cook Inlet and are also a really good eating fish.  There’s no limit for grey cod, and many locals prefer grey cod to halibut.

Halibut are available pretty much all summer until the weather cools in September, and the fish go back into deeper water in the Gulf of Alaska. They chase the spawning herring and smolt.

Land of the Midnight Sun

Always consider the length of the daylight when planning a trip to Alaska.

The days are long in the spring, starting in early May. By August, the days are getting shorter, and the weather is usually getting a bit wetter with bigger seas. The longest day of the year is June 21. For about a month before and after, it does not get dark at night.

Homer and Seldovia should be high on your shortlist for places to fish.

My next article will be about freshwater fishing on the Kenai Peninsula. The Kenai River is a great place to try, and many make it a doubleheader, fishing both the Kenai and Homer salt. The Kenai is usually accessed by driftboat guides. The reds start to peak in early July. They are excellent table fare and Kenai Reds are very large fish.

There are many other places to fish in Alaska.  Stay tuned for a series of articles on other areas to fish in Alaska.  But for me personally, it’s Homer and Kachemak Bay, especially Seldovia, because it is stunningly beautiful. It is also one of the most cost-effective areas to fish because of its easy access.

There are no roads to Seldovia and access is only by boat or plane. It’s one of few off-the-road system villages that still retains its old Alaska charm.

Plus, Seldovia also allows you a lot more time to have your line in the water than fishing out of Homer Harbor.

Modern Luxury Watches Honour Tradition to Define the Future

0

In luxury watchmaking, tradition has long been synonymous with prestige, craftsmanship and enduring value. Yet, in an industry that thrives on legacy, innovation is reshaping age-old traditions. While established Maisons continue to safeguard centuries-old techniques, a new wave of watchmakers is redefining heritage — some by reviving lost crafts, others by forging entirely new identities. Today, tradition in watchmaking is no longer just inherited; it is actively reimagined, proving that legacy and modernity can coexist in unexpected ways.

While heritage watch brands preserve centuries-old craftsmanship to maintain their prestige, a new wave of watchmakers is redefining tradition by either reviving historical techniques or forging entirely new identities — proving that in modern luxury watchmaking, tradition is not just inherited but continuously reinvented. Luxury watchmaking today reflects three distinct approaches to tradition: heritage brands that have upheld their craftsmanship for generations, new watchmakers reviving historical techniques and modern disruptors creating their own traditions while redefining value.

Category: Non-broken heritage brands, Time-Honoured Traditions

The first category focuses on the non-broken heritage brands that have maintained their legacy over centuries, such as Patek Philippe, Vacheron Constantin and Rolex. These brands are revered not only for their exceptional craftsmanship but for their ability to evolve with the times, incorporating modern features like smart technology while keeping their traditional roots intact.

Rolex

While Rolex may be renowned for its robust tool watches, its commitment to precision and innovation is deeply embedded in its watchmaking heritage. The introduction of the first waterproof Oyster case, the development of the perpetual movement and the innovation of the Parachrom hairspring are just a few examples of how Rolex continues to evolve while remaining true to its legacy. For Rolex, a watch is not just a timekeeping instrument; it is an institution, one that stands as a symbol of excellence and precision. Modern Rolex watches bear the title of “Superlative Chronometer,” a designation that assures owners of superior performance across several key areas, including precision, robustness and durability. This certification — unique to Rolex — guarantees an exceptional precision of –2/+2 seconds per day, surpassing the standards of the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC).

Rolex’s commitment to creating the finest watches is evident in every aspect of its designs, from the materials used to the exacting standards upheld in production. The brand’s proprietary Oystersteel, for example, is a highly corrosion-resistant alloy, while the scratchproof Cerachrom bezels ensure that each timepiece remains pristine over the years. Rolex watches undergo rigorous testing to ensure they endure extreme conditions, whether worn by an explorer, a diver or a mountaineer. In fact, each watch is subjected to tests that simulate real-world wear and tear, from salt exposure to temperature extremes, ensuring that the finished product is both durable and reliable. Despite its technological advancements, Rolex remains true to the belief that simplicity is a measure of performance. The Cosmograph Daytona, for instance, is an exemplary model of Rolex’s philosophy, containing only 314 components while offering exceptional timing precision. This dedication to simplification and reliability extends to the development of new models, such as the Sky-Dweller — which despite its complex functionality — operates with remarkable ease.

Patek Philippe

Patek Philippe’s reputation as a leader in the world of horology is built on its unwavering commitment to craftsmanship and innovation. Few names command as much respect in watchmaking and the brand’s legacy is defined by its ability to balance tradition with progressive design. Known for its meticulous hand-finishing and technical mastery, Patek Philippe has remained fiercely independent, ensuring that each timepiece meets the brand’s exacting standards. The Grand Complications collection — with its perpetual calendars, minute repeaters and celestial movements — epitomises the brand’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of watchmaking while maintaining an unrelenting focus on precision.

The Cubitus collection marks a bold departure from the brand’s traditional design language, introducing the first square wristwatch in Patek Philippe’s history. This is a significant move, demonstrating the brand’s ability to innovate while preserving its heritage of technical excellence. By embracing modern aesthetics and incorporating familiar Patek elements — such as integrated bracelets and high-quality hand-finishing — the Cubitus offers a fresh perspective on the brand’s approach to luxury sports watches. While it pushes new boundaries in design, the Cubitus remains anchored in Patek Philippe’s core values, making it both a bold evolution and a fitting continuation of the brand’s storied legacy.

Vacheron Constantin

The story of Vacheron Constantin is one of passion, perseverance and unrelenting pursuit of excellence. The Maison’s legacy is not merely built on technical innovation but on a deep respect for artistry and tradition. Each timepiece is a reflection of this balance — an enduring tribute to the watchmaking craftsmanship that has been passed down through generations.

As the longest continuously operating watchmaker, Vacheron Constantin has crafted timepieces that transcend mere function, embodying artistry and precision in equal measure. Since 1755, the Maison has been at the forefront of Swiss watchmaking, creating pieces for royalty, collectors and connoisseurs alike. From the ultra-complicated Les Cabinotiers collection to the refined elegance of the Patrimony range, Vacheron Constantin continues to define the art of horology.

As part of the celebrations for its 270th anniversary in 2025, Vacheron Constantin introduces the reissue of the iconic Historiques 222 in stainless steel. This release marks the first of many milestones throughout the year, honouring both the brand’s storied past and its forward-thinking vision. The anniversary festivities also include the immersive exhibition The Quest: 270 Years of Seeking Excellence — having debut in Abu Dhabi in February 2025 — offering a glimpse into the Maison’s rich heritage and its commitment to future innovation. This global exhibition will journey through the world’s luxury hubs, continuing to showcase the values that have defined Vacheron Constantin since its founding.

Category: New Brands, Revived Traditional

The second category explores how new brands are breathing new life into traditional watchmaking methods, merging them with modern aesthetics to capture the attention of a new generation of collectors. Drawing from the rich heritage of Swiss watchmaking, these brands are putting a fresh spin on time-honoured techniques, creating timepieces that appeal to today’s luxury consumers who seek both innovation and craftsmanship.

Romain Gauthier

Romain Gauthier — an independent watchmaker of exceptional renown — has earned a place alongside the likes of F.P. Journe for his unmatched blend of traditional hand-finishing and cutting-edge engineering. His approach is all about pushing the technical boundaries of watchmaking while still honouring the finest craftsmanship. Take, for example, his Logical One, a timepiece that exemplifies this fusion of innovation and meticulous finishing.

One of the most remarkable pieces in his portfolio is the Freedom Continuum, a watch that embodies Gauthier’s signature style of precision and artistry. This limited edition of just 28 pieces is a testament to the brand’s commitment to exclusivity and craftsmanship. While Romain Gauthier may not be as widely recognised as some of the larger names in haute horlogerie, his influence and expertise are undeniable. In fact, Gauthier played an integral role in the creation of the movement for a high-profile Chanel watch, further cementing his reputation among collectors and connoisseurs. This timepiece is a perfect reflection of Gauthier’s ability to merge traditional watchmaking techniques with forward-thinking designs, creating a luxury sports watch that appeals to a global market of discerning collectors. With its high level of hand-finishing and innovative use of materials, the Freedom Continuum has quickly become one of the most coveted pieces for collectors seeking something distinct in the world of high-end sports watches.

Kudoke

KUDOKE — founded in 2005 by German independent watchmaker Stefan Kudoke — has quickly established itself as a standout in the world of haute horlogerie. As one of the youngest recognised Master Craftsmen (Deutsche Meisterbrief) in Glashütte at just 22, Kudoke’s journey into the horological elite has been marked by a blend of technical mastery and artistic refinement. An AHCI member and GPHG Laureate, he made history as the first independent German watchmaker to win the prestigious Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) Petite Aiguille award.

KUDOKE’s timepieces are revered by collectors for their refined, hand-finished craftsmanship, staying true to the traditional German schools of watchmaking. A standout in their collection is the in-house KALIBER 1 movement, which powers the HANDwerk series. Developed by Kudoke, this movement epitomises his commitment to excellence, with meticulous hand-engraving and finishing that honours the art of traditional watchmaking. The HANDwerk series exemplifies KUDOKE’s philosophy of merging precision with artistry, offering collectors a glimpse into the heritage of German watchmaking. Today, KUDOKE watches are available at Sincere Fine Watches and SHH boutiques in Singapore and Malaysia, offering discerning collectors a chance to experience the elegance and craftsmanship of this celebrated independent brand.

New Traditions: Watchmakers Creating a Legacy of Their Own

Not all modern luxury watches are tied to centuries-old traditions. Some brands are carving out entirely new identities, combining futuristic materials, radical designs and high-performance movements to redefine what a luxury watch can be. These companies are building their own legacies, often combining high-tech features, unique materials and distinctive designs to create timepieces that resonate with modern buyers who want more than just a functional watch. These watches represent not just a new style but a new chapter in the story of watchmaking.

Hublot

Hublot is known for pushing the boundaries of traditional design by incorporating high-tech materials and innovative features that appeal to modern buyers who value both aesthetics and functionality. For example, their use of materials like ceramic, titanium and their proprietary King Gold combined with modern design techniques, creates timepieces that feel contemporary while maintaining the craftsmanship associated with luxury watches. Case in point, Hublot’s Big Bang Integrated Time Only 38mm is a bold reinterpretation of its signature design. While the larger Big Bang models have been central to Hublot’s identity, this 38mm version represents a move towards something more compact, yet still filled with the same distinctive features that have become synonymous with the brand. The watch retains the signature “ears,” the six H-shaped screws around the bezel, and the rubber composite inserts between the case and bezel, all of which contribute to its unique, recognisable design. These elements are not just for show but are part of what makes the Big Bang collection so iconic.

One of the key features of the Big Bang Integrated Time Only 38mm is its unisex appeal. With its integrated bracelet and range of material options, including brushed titanium and Hublot’s King Gold, the watch embraces a more versatile design. Additionally, the dial’s ferromagnetic steel construction ensures protection against magnetic fields, an uncommon feature in most watches. The HUB1115 movement — with a 48-hour power reserve — drives the watch, adding a level of technical innovation to its design. This movement, while not a Unico calibre, represents a first for the Big Bang collection and speaks to Hublot’s ongoing pursuit of blending tradition with modernity.

Roger Dubuis

Roger Dubuis stands out as a brand that embraces traditional watchmaking while boldly reinterpreting it through a contemporary lens. Certified with the prestigious Poinçon de Genève, the brand maintains the highest standards of craftsmanship yet presents its creations with an audacious, modern aesthetic. The Excalibur Spider Flyback Chronograph exemplifies this balance, showcasing intricate mechanical complications such as the column wheel and vertical clutch while re-engineering their placement for a striking visual impact. By positioning the column wheel at the front of the calibre — rather than the conventional bridge-side — the brand challenges traditional norms while staying true to its horological roots.

This fusion of heritage and innovation extends beyond the technical aspects of its timepieces. Roger Dubuis strategically aligns its watches with motorsport culture, a modern narrative that reinforces its bold identity. The Flyback Chronograph, for instance, was launched at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, highlighting the synergy between high-performance engineering and fine watchmaking. Similarly, the brand’s presence at Watches & Wonders transforms the traditional watch fair experience into a spectacle, drawing in audiences who may be entirely new to the world of haute horology. This reflects a broader shift in luxury watchmaking, where heritage brands are no longer just about preserving the past but actively engaging with contemporary culture.

Beyond technical mastery, Roger Dubuis also redefines how luxury watches are marketed and experienced. Rather than focusing solely on transactions, the brand prioritises storytelling, creating conversations that foster deeper connections with collectors and newcomers alike. This approach mirrors the evolving landscape of modern luxury watchmaking, where tradition remains at the heart of the craft but is continuously reimagined to captivate a new generation.

Franck Muller

Franck Muller’s name is synonymous with audacious innovation, a brand that bridges the gap between the time-honoured techniques of Swiss watchmaking and bold, contemporary design. His creations — particularly the Cintrée Curvex — challenge conventional aesthetics with their sweeping curves and complex, sculptural forms. However, Muller’s true brilliance lies in his ability to marry artistry with mechanical mastery, employing intricate complications like the Tourbillon and Minute Repeater in timepieces that are both technically advanced and visually striking. By embracing modern technology while honouring Swiss horological traditions, Franck Muller ensures that each of his pieces remains an intricate fusion of heritage and cutting-edge design, securing his place as a visionary within the world of luxury watchmaking.

Franck Muller continues to assert his mastery of horological innovation with the Long Island Evolution Master Jumper, a groundbreaking timepiece that pushes the boundaries of traditional watchmaking. Featuring an instantaneous triple-jumping mechanism, the watch synchronises hours, minutes and dates through mechanical digital indicators — an unprecedented achievement in the world of luxury watches. This creation is powered by the manual-winding FM 3100-L movement, a marvel of precision, with five rotating discs to facilitate the jumping action. The watch’s design — housed in a brushed titanium case with a green anodised aluminium bezel — speaks to Franck Muller’s meticulous craftsmanship, as only 100 pieces will be made, exclusively for the Asia-Pacific market. The Master Jumper’s exceptional mechanism and innovative presentation are a testament to Franck Muller’s reputation as the “Master of Complications,” capturing the essence of modern horological tradition while securing his place as a pioneer in the future of watchmaking.

The Cost of New Creative Directors

0

In the efforts to attract new audiences and stay relevant in an evolving luxury market, creative directors are often tasked with rebranding renowned fashion houses. While this injects a fresh perspective to a Maison and opens the opportunity for profits, it can also be something of a double-edged sword that could chip away at the “true essence” of the founder’s heritage, shifting the focus from legacy to trend-driven appeal. As designers reinterpret brand histories through selective eras or aesthetics, the risk of diluting tradition grows, leaving fashion giants in a constant cycle of balancing reinvention at the expense of authenticity.

Rise of the “Rebranding” Era

The luxury fashion industry operates at a crossroads — where heritage and reinvention are constantly at odds. Previous years have seen the former appointments of visionary creative directors like Alessandro Michele at Gucci and Hedi Slimane at Saint Laurent illustrating how the industry (or rather their conglomerates) prioritises a bold, contemporary overhaul to captivate new audiences. Michele’s maximalist, vintage-inspired take propelled Gucci to fresh cultural relevance, while Slimane’s Saint Laurent fixated on the rock-and-roll aesthetic — sidelining other aspects of Yves Saint Laurent’s legacy. These shifts may generate buzz and financial success, but they often leave behind the nuanced, multifaceted heritage of the original founders.

Yves Saint Laurent was pivotal in shaping the 1960s mod era, introducing sharp tailoring, A-line silhouettes and clean, architectural lines that were more refined than the grunge-heavy Saint Laurent of today. His designs for women, like the 1966 Le Smoking tuxedo and safari jackets, embodied a forward-thinking modernity that was bold yet elegant. During his tenure, Slimane cemented the brand’s reputation as the go-to for skinny jeans, biker jackets and indie-rock aesthetics, largely omitting Saint Laurent’s more refined innovations. His version of Saint Laurent became synonymous with punk and youth subcultures, but at the cost of other dimensions of the brand’s heritage. Hedi Slimane’s interpretation of Saint Laurent’s legacy prioritised the brand’s rock-and-roll persona, but this narrow lens overlooks the full breadth of Yves Saint Laurent’s innovative fashion — from the renowned le smoking tuxedo jacket to his embrace of global inspirations. In focusing on one chapter, the brand lost the richness of its founder’s multidimensional story.

Similarly, it was McQueen’s dramatic silhouettes, controversial narratives and conceptual runway showcases inspired by historical events, personal struggles or macabre fairy tales — that challenged fashion norms. When Sarah Burton took over as creative director, she carried on McQueen’s craftsmanship but steered the brand toward a more wearable, commercially palatable aesthetic. While her designs retained McQueen’s appreciation for intricate details and couture-level execution, they lacked the raw, provocative edge that made his work so distinctive.

Despite this, Burton’s McQueen was successful, and her tenure was marked by technically brilliant designs. However, it was arguably tamer, prioritising elegance over shock value. Now, with Sean McGirr taking over, there is speculation about whether McQueen’s original daring spirit will return or if the brand will continue down a more “commercial” path. That being said, having a collection with “commercial” appeal is not necessarily a bad thing as evidenced by the success of Sarah Burton’s tenure and Maria Grazia Churi at Dior.

The Fine Line Between Evolution and Erasure

Maintaining a brand’s DNA while catering to modern audiences is an increasingly delicate balancing act. At Dior, Maria Grazia Chiuri’s feminist-driven collections have reshaped the house’s identity, infusing it with new cultural relevance — but at the expense of the romantic, architectural silhouettes that once defined Christian Dior’s vision. Similarly, Virginie Viard’s Chanel leans into the ease of wearability, yet risks diluting the theatrical craftsmanship that Karl Lagerfeld cemented as the brand’s modern identity. The challenge for these brands is not just about staying relevant but ensuring that reinvention does not come at the cost of heritage.

Under Lagerfeld, Chanel experienced immense commercial success, yet his embrace of casual wear — T-shirts and even menswear — diverted the focus from the intricate, artistic side of Chanel that had made the brand a symbol of Parisian haute couture. Virginie Viard’s tenure has been marked by a softer, more approachable aesthetic that feels safe compared to Lagerfeld’s daring creations. While this has resonated with some consumers, it is also seen by some as less “groundbreaking”, losing the edge that Chanel once had.

Kim Jones — who draws inspiration from Christian Dior’s life and eccentricities — has successfully reinterpreted the brand’s legacy, offering a modern, gender-fluid perspective without losing its spirit. His Dior Men collections introduce layers of personal connection to the founder, giving consumers a deeper emotional bond to the brand. By referencing Dior’s life and eccentricities, Jones invites consumers to connect with the history of the brand on a deeper, more personal level. This adds layers to the designs and gives the collections emotional depth, rather than presenting them as mere reinventions of past glories. It enriches the brand narrative without losing its identity. Jones does not simply replicate Dior’s designs or ideas but reinterprets them, reflecting how the house’s rich history can be recontextualised in today’s fashion landscape. For example, he may reference Dior’s passion for gardens or the iconic New Look but adapts them with a modern, sometimes gender-fluid, sensibility that speaks to a new generation of luxury consumers.

Demna arguably played a huge role in transforming the Maison into a cultural phenomenon but was at times criticised for not successfully bridging his approach with Cristóbal Balenciaga’s original vision. His designs include everything from dystopian aesthetics and meme-worthy footwear (like the sock sneaker and Crocs collaborations) to provocative ad campaigns. Despite the contrast, Demna has echoed Balenciaga’s original craftsmanship in some ways. His tailoring — particularly in structured coats and draped dresses — nods to Cristóbal’s technical genius. However, his prioritisation of branding, streetwear and shock value has, at times, overshadowed this aspect.

Unlike many other luxury houses, Louis Vuitton has managed to modernise while remaining true to its origins. Founded in 1854 as a trunk-making company, Louis Vuitton’s DNA remains deeply embedded in its roots of travel. While creative directors like Marc Jacobs, Kim Jones, Virgil Abloh and now Pharrell Williams have introduced contemporary elements, the brand’s core identity — luxury travel — remains intact. Its iconic monogram, steamer trunks and travel-inspired accessories continue to be a cornerstone of its identity.

Unlike Saint Laurent or Balenciaga — which have undergone extreme transformations — Louis Vuitton’s evolution has been more seamless. Even with streetwear collaborations and experimental designs, its heritage as a trunkmaker and its commitment to artisanal craftsmanship remain central.

What Comes Next: The Future of Fashion’s Heritage Houses

The Cost of New Creative Directors

As fashion moves into a new era of creative leadership, questions arise about whether heritage brands will continue reshaping their pasts or if the industry will see a return to their founding principles. Matthieu Blazy’s Chanel and Jonathan Anderson’s potential move to Dior Men could redefine house codes with a fresh perspective, while Alessandro Michele’s Valentino may pay closer homage to Valentino Garavani’s original elegance. On the other hand, history has proven that some of fashion’s most admired rebrands — from John Galliano’s extravagant Dior to Hedi Slimane’s singular take on YSL — had little resemblance to their founders’ original visions.

As it stands, Demna’s tenure at Balenciaga is at an end and he is moving to Gucci. Donatella Versace is stepping down from her role as creative director. Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez — the visionary duo behind Proenza Schouler — are set to succeed Jonathan Anderson as LOEWE’s new creative directors. Matthieu Blazy moves to Chanel while Glenn Martens makes a move to Maison Margiela. Louise Trotter will be at the helm of Bottega Veneta while Michael Rider is at Celine and Simone Bellotti is Jil Sander. Jonathan Anderson is rumoured to be heading to Dior as roles in Fendi and Balenciaga are still open. As the fashion industry continue on its game of musical chairs, these brands will face tough decisions about how to evolve while maintaining their original identities.

How To Plan A Trip To Cabo San Lucas

0

The beating heart of the Baja Californian peninsula, Cabo San Lucas is an incredible city which has something for everyone here.

This includes postcard-perfect Pacific beaches, matched with iconic dark sed sunsets every evening.

We’ll also find tons of entertainment options, great nightlife, natural rock formations as well as adventure parks that you’ll want to fit into your plans and itinerary when exploring the city and nearby region.

In this article we’ll take a look at the most important things you need to know when planning your own trip to Cabo San Lucas, such as how to get here, the best time to visit, what to see and do as well as whether Cabo is safe.

We’ll also explore our own personal tips to help you have the best time possible when here.

Why Visit Cabo San Lucas?

Cabo San Lucas is by far one of the most popular places to visit in Mexico – and for good reason too. Like Cancun and Puerto Vallarta, here we’ll find a diverse range of activities and awesome things to see, as well as many off the beaten path experiences and lesser-known gems to visit nearby too.

How To Plan A Trip To Cabo San Lucas

Given Cabo is located in the far north of Mexico, the weather here is hot year-round – which makes it ideal to explore its golden-sand beaches during any month of the year. This includes the lively Médano Beach where all of the hotels and restaurants are located, as well as to Chileno Beach and Playa del Divorcio to enjoy some crystal-clear snorkelling conditions.

Cabo San Lucas also has many thrilling activities to take part in for a really memorable vacation here. This includes going deep-sea fishing with local charters to reel in a big catch (check out BoatsBaja.com), spotting Blue Whales and Humpback Whales, eating tasty Mexican cuisine and even flying on a zip line through the desert canyons.

Later in this guide we’ll take a look at the very best things you can see and do when in Cabo San Lucas.

Planning Your Trip To Cabo San Lucas

How To Get To Cabo San Lucas

Given its close proximity to the USA, most visitors usually connect with a flight from here (unless flying directly of course). The nearest airport to Cabo San Lucas is Los Cabos which is roughly 30 minutes away and is the best way of getting into the city. Here we can find regular flights here from cities like Miami, Dallas, Chicago and Seattle for between $70-130 for a one-way ticket.

We recommend booking your flights on Expedia.com or through Google Flights.

Plane Travel AirplanePlane Travel Airplane

Although Cabo San Lucas is disconnected from the major mainland of Mexico, it’s still possible to arrive here without flying. Those in nearby La Paz can take a simple 2 hour bus here, whilst those further north in Tijuana can enjoy a memorable coastal road trip south to reach Cabo.

Another option is taking the ferry from the region of Sinaloa on the mainland to La Paz, followed by the two hour bus. They depart on a weekly schedule from Mazatlán and Topolobampo, and take roughly 9 hours to arrive to La Paz.

How Many Days Do You Need In Cabo San Lucas?

Once you know how to get to Cabo San Lucas, another major topic is working out how much time you’ll need here to see all of the main highlights and have the best experience possible.

Usually I suggest between 4-6 days in Cabo San Lucas. This amount of time is perfect for enjoying the various golden-sand beaches and sea activities, and also for taking a day trip to explore other parts of Baja California Sur (such as La Paz or Todos Santos).

If you’re heading here for a more specific reason like learning how to surf, or if you want to rent a yacht or go fishing, then you’ll probably want to extend your trip to over a week or so so you can take full advantage.

The Best Time To Visit Cabo San Lucas

Before you start booking your flights, it’s always good to check different weather seasons can bring different advantages and disadvantages.

The dry season is by far the most popular time to visit, which runs from November until April.

At this time of year, expect dry and warm sunny days most of the time, which is perfect for hitting up a beach or anything outdoors. The only drawback is that it can get very busy with crowds around this time, especially obviously closer to the Christmas holidays.

The wet season begins in May goes through to October, and is also a great alternative time to visit Cabo San Lucas. Even though there’s more rain, and the days are balmy, there are usually enough sunny days sprinkled in for a good trip.

Just know that stormy weather (and potential hurricanes) are most likely to happen between the months of September and October.

Lastly, another important consideration is the various fauna that can be spotted around this Pacific city. Whales can be spotted off the coast during their annual migration north between January and March, whilst you can also swim with Whales Sharks from November until April.

If you’re looking to go fishing in Cabo, then the best time is between the months of July and October during the rainy season.

Cabo San Lucas Packing List

As Cabo is warm year-round, this makes it quite easy to pack for this coastal city. It’s similar if you are planning a longer trip around Mexico too, given most parts are also usually hot!

Below we’ll list a great starting packing list for your trip to Cabo San Lucas, as well as all of the essentials that you’ll want to bring:

  • T-shirts and vests.
  • Shorts.
  • Swimming trunks and costumes.
  • Short-sleeve shirts.
  • Sandals.
  • Shoes.
  • Thin layers for daytime hiking.
  • A poncho or rain jacket (if heading during the wet season).
  • A hand towel.
  • A baseball cap or nice hat (to prevent you from getting burnt during the day).
  • Sunglasses.
  • High SPF sunscreen (we suggest using a minimum of SPF 30).
  • A reusable water bottle.
  • A day pack for when taking day trips around the city and nearby region.
  • A quality camera or mobile phone.
  • Extra batteries for your camera.
  • Charging adaptors and power banks.
  • Padlocks (for keeping your personal belongings safe).
  • Important documents (such as your passport, credit cards etc).
  • Copy of your travel insurance documents.
  • A plastic folder to hold all of your important documents together.

The Best Things To See And Do In Cabo San Lucas

Visit The Arch Of Cabo San Lucas

Jutting-out of the Pacific Ocean, the Arch of Cabo is by far one of the most impressive landmarks you can see around the city. A naturally-created rock formation, you can spot it from Médano Beach and is also beautiful to watch when the sun is setting beyond it. You can also head out on a boat tour to get even more impressive pictures, and also explore the hidden beach behind it.

Hike Up To The Cerro De La Zeta Mirador

Translating locally as a viewpoint, the best mirador in Cabo San Lucas is located on top of  a mountain just west of the city centre. It takes just under an hour to complete the hike up the Cerro De La Zeta, where you can enjoy a quieter walk with less crowds around and some picturesque arid vegetation along the way. At the top there are impressive views over both Cabo as well as the surrounding Pacific Ocean.

Enjoy Cabo’s Famous Nightlife

What really makes Cabo San Lucas come alive is its legendary nightlife scene after the sun goes down. Regardless if you’re after a hectic night out, or want more of a chilled-out evening by the beach – there’s plenty of options for everyone here. There are lots of bars near the Marina and along Avenida Lázaro Cárdenas such as Jungle Bar and Monkey Business Bar, whilst nightclubs such as La Vaquita and El Squid Roe promise an eventful scene.

Head On A Local Taco Tour

All over Cabo San Lucas you can find many epic dishes that mix both Mexican classics as well as some of the more popular cuisine that hails from the Baja California Sur region. Trying them by yourself can sometimes be daunting, which is why I recommend joining Juan More Taco for an awesome street food experience. Not only will you try all kinds of exotic local dishes, your expert guide will also be on-hand for any questions you may have!

Go Deep-Sea Fishing

Given its location along the Pacific, Cabo San Lucas is a perfect spot to go deep-sea fishing where you can find popular catches such as the Blue Marlin, Wahoo and Yellowfin Tuna species. The overall best time to go fishing is between July and October, although other months are still good for different big catches.

You’ll find lots of local companies around the harbour like Boats Baja, who organize both fishing charters and private yachts.

Is Cabo San Lucas Safe To Visit?

Like with most cities around Mexico, Cabo San Lucas has both its safe and unsafe areas – with the Harbour and Médano Beach neighbourhoods being the best for a stay.

Of course you’ll still want to take the usual precautions such as leaving valuables back in your apartment when heading out, and also not wandering off into unknown neighbourhoods alone at night.

tequila tasting in cabo san lucastequila tasting in cabo san lucas

Outside of the tourist areas and hotel resorts, it can get a little more sketchy in certain areas. Usually these neighbourhoods aren’t recommended for tourists to venture into alone – and to be honest usually don’t have any redeemable sites or attractions (and aren’t really places that tourists would want to head to). If for any reason you need to go, I suggest using Ubers to and from, and also to try to visit during the daytime (unless going with a trusted friend or tour guide).

The last piece of advice in terms of how you can stay safe is to follow local guidance. This includes any tips you can pick-up from the receptionist in your hotel, as well as from any tour guide you travel with. This way you can learn some valuable advice such as why you should avoid drinking tap water, as well as if any particular areas are not worth heading to right now.

Our Tip Tips For Visiting Cabo San Lucas

Below we’ll now share some of our own personal top tips for having the best experience possible when in Cabo San Lucas.

Avoid Drinking Unsafe Water

Having already mentioned this above, you’ll really want to double-down on the water situation here. Unfortunately the public water systems aren’t treated at all, and as a result many unsuspecting tourists get nasty stomach bugs and can fall ill. Always drink from sealed bottles of water, and try to avoid getting ice in drinks when heading to restaurants.

Head To Cabo During The Shoulder Seasons

Sandwiched between the dry and wet seasons, these periods often offer us the best of both worlds when coming to Cabo. These include the months of November, May and June.

Not only can you enjoy warm temperatures and great weather with less crowds around, you can also get involved with local cultural celebrations such as the Day of the Dead (which is an important Mexican event that takes place every early November).

Keep An Open Mind During Your Trip

There’s a lot more going for Cabo than just its beaches and endless nightlife options, and as a result I recommend trying to keep an open mind when here. Whilst visiting off the beaten path destinations is a good start, I also suggest visiting other places in the nearby region such as Todos Santos for its awesome surfing and La Paz for its spectacular beaches.

Overview Of Cabo San Lucas

And that’s all for this guide on how to plan your own trip to Cabo San Lucas, as well as the surrounding regions of Baja California Sur.

This Mexican paradise is already a hot destination to visit in the country, with its scene and activities rivalling those of Cancún and Puerto Vallarta. As we’ve now seen, Cabo is also home to a massive range of activities, so your only issue will be working out how to fit them all into just one trip here!

As always, planning your trip in advance will help make it more smooth and enjoyable.

I highly recommend taking your time to read again the sections of how to get to Cabo, the best time to visit, our own top tips as well as the various destinations on offer here to help you have the best experience possible.

Andrew Tate’s Koenigsegg Jesko breaks down in less than a day

0

Andrew Tate recently took delivery of his brand-new Koenigsegg Jesko. We were about to share images of the stunning matte Tiffany Blue Jesko Attack, but then reports emerged that the hypercar had already broken down.

Tate’s Jesko was seen parked in the middle of the road somewhere in Bucharest, Romania. A video posted on social media shows Tate crossing the road with a phone in his hand, possibly trying to call a tow truck. While the exact reason for the breakdown is unclear, some kind of fluid can clearly be seen leaking out of the car.

That being said, @romania_registry claims that it was Romania’s bad roads that damaged the $5 million Jesko. The car was later seen being transported on a flatbed.

Now, the Koenigsegg Jesko has had its fair share of issues. The company had issued a ‘Do-Not-Drive‘ order after one of the cars caught fire in Greece. In September last year, a high-speed run ended in smoke bellowing from the engine bay of a Jesko Absolut.

Let’s hope that Tate’s Tiffany Blue Jesko is repaired and back on the road soon.
