The current gas-powered Cayenne will stick around, with updates planned to keep it fresh into the next decade
Porsche will unveil an electric version of its top-selling Cayenne midsize SUV later this year, CEO Oliver Blume revealed during a Q&A session at the automaker’s annual general meeting on Wednesday.
Sales should follow in 2026, meaning the electric Cayenne will likely reach U.S. showrooms as a 2027 model. Production will be handled at the same Volkswagen Group plant in Bratislava, Slovakia, where the current gas-powered Cayenne is built.
Porsche confirmed plans for an electric Cayenne more than a year ago, and prototypes have been in public view for most of that time, including for both the regular Cayenne body style and the more rakish Cayenne Coupe.
The electric Cayenne will be a true next-generation design based on VW Group’s PPE (Premium Platform Electric) platform, which also underpins the electric Macan.
2024 Porsche Macan Electric Turbo
For the electric Macan, the platform accommodates a 100-kwh (95-kwh usable) battery pack and a motor driving each axle. Combined output for the Macan EV currently tops out at 630 hp in the Turbo model, and even higher outputs are likely for the electric Cayenne, possibly via a quad-motor setup.
Despite the arrival of the electric Cayenne, the current gas-powered Cayenne—which has been on sale since the 2019 model year and received a major update for 2024—will stick around. Despite its age, Porsche sold 102,889 examples last year, accounting for almost one out of every three sales at the automaker.
Due to its popularity and the slower-than-expected adoption of EVs, especially in the premium sector, Porsche plans to keep the gas-powered Cayenne on sale well into the next decade, with further updates planned to keep it fresh. Another round of updates is expected next year, with prototypes already spotted. These updates will likely align some of the gas-powered Cayenne’s technology with that of the electric Cayenne.
This won’t be the case for the gas-powered Macan, which ends production in 2026. At its annual general meeting, Porsche said it is evaluating a separate gas-powered SUV in the same segment as the Macan for a possible launch near the end of the decade.
In 2010, Swiss team Matech Competition launched an FIA GT1 racing version of the Ford GT supercar (the one from the 2005 and 2006 model years, that is). Now two companies are partnering to build a road-going version called the Lynx GT1.
Texas-based Lynx Motors announced Thursday in a press release that it plans to sell 28 examples of the GT1, and they will be built at the Zionsville, Indiana, shop of Graham Rahal Performance, the dealership and tuner owned by IndyCar driver Graham Rahal.
Lynx Motors Ford GT1
Unlike the Le Mans-winning GT40 that inspired it, and the successor GT supercar that won its class at the French endurance race in 2016, the 2005 Ford GT was never intended to race. But after production ended, Matech Competition built some cars to run in the FIA GT1 World Championship, which launched in 2010 and also featured the Audi R8, Lamborghini Murciélago, and Nissan GT-R.
The series only lasted for three seasons, and the Ford GT didn’t produce any memorable results during that time, but it should make for an impressive road car. Lynx Motors promises to carry over the race car’s widened carbon-fiber bodywork and aerodynamic elements from Matech.
Each of the roadgoing Lynx GT1s will use a Ford GT chassis that Matech originally bought for its race cars. The additional 28 chassis were not part of the revived GT’s estimated 4,038-car production run. The engine will be axxxxx GT’s supercharged 5.4-liter V-8, which made 550 hp in stock form, to more than 1,200. Lynx will pair it with a Ricardo 6-speed manual transmission. In addition, three of the original racing engines are available. These are twin-turbo 7.0-liter V-8s making 1,400-1,500 hp that is sent to the rear wheels through a Sadev 6-speed sequential gearbox.
The cars shown here are already built versions based on the race car, and they are for sale separately. The Lynx website lists the Gulf Racing livery at $1.7 million. Lynx’s Jeff Jennings told Motor Authority that the GT1 will start at $1.2 million and range up to $1.7 million depending on based on how individual cars are specced. For instance, a base car will lack the big rear spoiler and dive planes. The cars will come with Indiana VINs.

Lynx provided the above rendering of the interior, which features analog gauges, a shifter mounted dead center instead of canted toward the driver, and a phone charging pad complete with Apple CarPlay in the center of the dash. Buyers will be able to choose seats from Recaro, Sparco, and Manthey Racing, and they’ll pick between three- and five-point harnesses. Jennings said buyers will be able to choose their interior colors, as well as their own gauges and trim.
Jennings said two of the production run have been sold, and the build time should take eight months. He noted that each of the 28 cars will be one of one in how it’s specced.

Whether you’re travelling in a camper, or stuck at home in the middle of a pandemic, there are going to be times when you need a few moments to yourself. And to do that, you need to find quiet activities for the kids to do, which don’t need supervision or clean-up.
Quiet Activities for Kids- the Trick!
The “trick” with quiet time activities is to find something they enjoy, and are absorbed with- so that they don’t REALISE they’re being quiet. I agree, it’s not always easy. In fact, there were many times whilst we were travelling Europe in a motorhome with our daughter that I thought I was losing my ever-loving mind.

Also, repeat after me: It’s ok to need a short break from your kids (as long as they’re safe, obvs). You are not a bad person. You will be a better parent afterwards. Promise.

Best Quiet Activities for Kids, Tweens or Teenagers
By the very nature of quiet time activities, we’re going to be talking about older kids, tweens and teenagers. The ones you trust to spend an hour or two in a room unsupervised without burning down the house. If you’re trying to work from home (or trying van life with kids), THESE are the activities you encourage so that you can have a short time period to get some work done uninterrupted.
I’ll be honest, the older they get the easier it gets. As long as they have internet and a phone, they’ll be fine. My daughter, now 18, will spend hours listening to music and chatting on Snapchat without me having to organise anything for her at all. As long as she has internet, headphones and snacks, she’s golden.

Listen to a Story
My go-to resource for our daughter was ALWAYS a storybook or audiobook. She LOVED being able to lie quietly and listen to a story of her choosing (and then she’d often fall asleep almost instantly!) As she got older, she listened to all the classics, but her favourite was always the Harry Potter books.
My absolute favourite resource for all things audiobook is Audible by Amazon.
You can choose how many audiobooks you want to download, keep them until you’ve finished, then return them and pick others. It’s literally an audio library at your fingertips. I also love that there are books for adults AND kids- perfect for quiet time for all of us.

Read a Story
In the same spirit, one of the best & quiet activities for kids of all ages is to read a book. If you can get your child to enjoy reading, you’ve almost won the war.
I would happily be sent to my room (especially if I had ‘just one more chapter’ to finish), but my brother HATED to read… until he discovered comics. As with everything, it’s finding something your child enjoys. It might be science fiction, or history, or even practical facts. Look for their interests and try to encourage and build on that.
If all else fails, the Hobbit, Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter are perfect ideas for older kids.
Again, a great solution to finding books, especially while travelling (or while you can’t leave your house!) is using Amazon Kindle Unlimited. For a small price each month, you can get unlimited books. Seriously- UNLIMITED. If you have a kid who reads a book a day, this is incredible value.
You do NOT need a dedicated Kindle reader- you can use an iPad or even a phone with the kindle app. Why not try it out here (you can also get Magazine subscriptions- perfect for when you’re travelling out of your home country!)
Loom Bands
Never heard of Loom Bands? You’re welcome. This craze has been around for a while now- it’s basically the new ‘friendship bracelet’. You can create bands of hundreds of different colours, with beads and other accessories. It keeps my nieces entertained for HOURS (boys can play too… I just don’t have a young nephew!)
Teach Them to Knit/ Crochet
Now, obviously, this is for your teenager or older child who can be trusted with a sharp pointy stick, but my grandmother taught me how to knit and it was BRILLIANT to be able to create things all by myself. (Not sure she appreciated how many hats/ scarves she ended up with afterwards though….!) It’s also a great activity for travelling and there are some great kits for kids to get this started.
Magnetic Building Blocks
Why not treat your child to some building blocks? Kids love building things and these kits are amazing! This kit has 149 pieces and is perfect for 3+ to let their imagination roam wild.
Jigsaws
If you are lucky enough to have a child who enjoys jigsaws, thank your lucky stars. My daughter hated them, but I LOVED them as a kid (and an adult!) and spent hours quietly figuring them out. I prefer to get my jigsaws from second-hand markets, but if that’s not feasible. Find something with a character that your kid loves, don’t make it too hard to start off with, and see how they get on.
Also, if they enjoy them, you’ll find a jigsaw board invaluable- it saves having to move everything off the kitchen table when it’s dinner time! I prefer a hard-backed one, but if you’re tight on space a roll-away one is perfect.
Play Dough
If you’ve got the space, and trust your kids not to make too much mess, play dough is a perfect quiet time activity. There are thousands of recipes on Google for how to make your own, or you can grab some quickly and cheaply here– complete with tools!
You can also get stuff called Fimo, so you can bake your children’s creations in the oven and keep it for all eternity. Lucky you. There is also a thing called Air Dry Clay – so no baking required!
Let’s be honest- if you can get your child to do this, you’ve won at life. It’s the PERFECT quiet time activity for kids, teenagers or husbands!
Lego
What is it about Lego that endures through the ages? It’s just magic. Now, I admit that the ‘sorting’ of Lego can be a little noisy, so this probably works best if you have separate rooms, rather than being in a van, but building Lego can keep a kid entertained for HOURS. There are Harry Potter sets, Star Wars, Dinosaurs, trucks- even a FRIENDS set in Lego!! Find something your child loves and let them amuse themselves!
Heck, I was given a Lego campervan for Christmas- it kept me quiet for 3 days!!
Stone Painting
One thing I love about stone painting is that you can find materials EVERYWHERE- making it perfect if you’re travelling. However, even at home, this kit is great for quiet time- as long as you trust them with paint. (This book is great for teaching them how to turn rocks into cute pets!)
I also LOVE these paint pens, which can be used for a variety of activities and make it SO. MUCH. EASIER.
Spirograph
Another fantastic resource to keep children quiet for a while is the Spirograph. Crazy simple- but crazy addictive. I always recommend getting the travel edition instead of the larger option- it makes it easier to carry on trips (and you KNOW they’re going to want to bring it!)
BUT- they now do a scratch and shimmer set, which is MAGICAL!
Perplexus
Perplexus (Perplexi?) are magical table games which will keep kids quietly amused for hours. Each Perplexus has many obstacles and routes to choose from. (They also make great gifts for hard-to-buy-for people!!)
Puzzle/ Sticker Books or Printable
I love puzzles. My daughter prefers stickers. The beauty of the world we live in is that there is so much choice and availability- you can find puzzle or sticker books everywhere.
Here’s an example for very young kids, but you can find them in hundreds of varieties!
You can also get printable games for kids– free or paid. These are perfect for road trips or travel- just print them out and keep them for when you need them!
Another ‘book’ idea is a search or puzzle book. My daughter LOVES the ‘Where’s….’ book and even now we have fun finding them. There are also “where” books for very young kids!
If you’re travelling in an RV or motorhome, these motorhome stickers would be a fun treat.
Youtube and Video
I know, I know- we all like to pretend that we NEVER let our kids watch TV as a way to keep them quiet. BUT, it’s ok. Seriously- it’s OK to let your kids amuse themselves in front of a screen while you recover your sanity.
Youtube has some fantastic kids channels if you’re travelling and can’t get ‘normal’ TV. There’s also the Disney Channel, Netflix and Amazon Prime. (Top Tip- don’t let younger kids onto Youtube unsupervised- who knows where they’ll end up!!)

Our rule was always it had to be on quietly/ they had to wear headphones. And any arguments during quiet time mean they lose it for a week (trust me- that one works!)

Spirit Airlines is having a sale to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with deals hitting major destinations including Orlando, New Orleans, New York City, and more.
The airline is offering deals across the country starting at $43.
The sale ends March 18.
You’re in luck this St. Patrick’s Day, as new flight deals within the US were just announced by a low-cost airline.
Spirit Airlines is offering one-way flights within the US to select destinations with introductory fares as low as $43 if booked between March 16 and March 18. Routes that can score passengers that $43 fare include New York to Charleston, Richmond to Orlando, St. Louis to Ft. Lauderdale, Philadelphia to Miami, and Baltimore to New Orleans, among others.
A whopping 47 departure destinations are included in the St. Patrick’s Day promotion, with options to fly all over the country. Specific routes including in this promotion can be found on Spirit’s website. Travelers are able to book tickets for trips that take place on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays between April 1 and May 7, excluding April 17 through April 22. It is necessary to book tickets at least 14 days in advance of travel.
“Travelers don’t need luck to get a great value on their next flight with our limited-time, St. Patrick’s Day deals,” said Rana Ghosh, Senior Vice President and Chief Transformation Officer at Spirit Airlines, said in a statement shared with T+L. “Our guests can enjoy Spirit’s high-value travel options year-round, no four-leaf clover needed.”
While Spirit Airlines filed for bankruptcy last year, this year the airline has expanded its service rapidly, including nearly 40 routes added to their existing network in the last few weeks.
Just in time for the 2025 Formula 1 season-opening Australian Grand Prix this weekend, Apple has updated its Apple Sports iOS app to include support for F1.
This follows the app’s recent addition of NASCAR support ahead of last month’s Daytona 500, further expanding its reach across major motorsports.
Launched in 2024, the Apple Sports app provides real-time scores, stats, and updates for various leagues, including the NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, and Premier League. Now, with F1 support, users can access race schedules, live leaderboards, lap times, and other key information throughout the season.
Apple Sports iOS app gains F1 support
For NASCAR, some of the live race data includes photos of the top three drivers, as well as the current gap between them. Lap count and flag information are also displayed, and something similar is likely planned for F1 races.
Apple’s growing interest in F1 isn’t limited to its sports app. The company is set to release an F1 movie starring Brad Pitt, co-produced by seven-time world champion and current Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton, on Apple TV+ on June 27. Apple TV also features a 2021 documentary on Hamilton’s life.
A redesigned Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class with hybrid and electric options arrives for the 2026 model year
AMG will reveal a tuned version of the electric CLA-Class in 2026
The reported output is a minimum of 500 hp, generated by one or more axial-flux electric motors
Mercedes-Benz on Thursday took the covers off a third-generation CLA-Class compact sedan, which will offer buyers the choice of electric or hybrid powertrains.
Still in the works, though, are versions tuned by Mercedes-Benz AMG, one of which will be an electric replacement for the current CLA 45. Prototypes for this AMG-tuned CLA-Class EV have been spotted testing, including at the Nürburgring, and Mercedes has confirmed we’ll see it in 2026.
Mercedes hasn’t provided any specs, but Autocar, citing comments made by Mercedes Chief Technical Officer Markus Schäfer at the CLA-Class launch in Rome, reported that the AMG version will feature advanced axial-flux electric motors developed by Mercedes subsidiary Yasa and a starting output of 500 hp.
The axial-flux motors were previously thought to be limited to AMG’s high-end models based on the Affalterbach tuner’s own AMG.EA platform, the first of which—an electric GT 4-Door Coupe alternative—is due next year. However, Autocar reported that Mercedes’ lineup of compact vehicles based on the MMA platform debuting in the new CLA-Class will also receive the technology. That lineup will include new versions of the CLA-Class Shooting Brake, GLB-Class, and GLA-Class, though it isn’t clear if all will get the axial-flux motors.
2026 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class
Axial-flux motors are both lighter and smaller than conventional radial-flux motors of similar output. Some of the designs weigh as little as 50 pounds but can deliver around 480 hp. However, manufacturing the motors is more difficult than for radial-flux motors, making them a lot less cost-effective.
In addition to the motors, electric AMGs are also expected to benefit from unique battery technologies developed using experience from Mercedes’ F1 program, particularly in the areas of energy discharging and recovery but also cooling.
The new CLA-Class is expected to reach U.S. showrooms by the end of the year, arriving as a 2026 model. The AMG will follow, possibly as a 2027 model.

Can you camp anywhere on the NC500 (North Coast 500)?
When you’re planning a North Coast 500 tour in any vehicle, but especially with a motorhome, caravan or campervan, where to stay is one of the biggest considerations.
Let’s start with some facts.
The North Coast 500 is a series of public roads in Scotland, which were there long before the route was created. As of 2024, it’s free to drive the NC500– but you will need to pay for fuel, food and campsites.
Because these are public roads, you cannot just camp anywhere on the NC500- there are plenty of narrow roads with only passing places and if you parked in one of those you’d cause chaos!
The easiest option is to stay in one of the many campsites along the route- we list some of our favourites below.
Can you Wild Park on the NC500 in a Campervan or Motorhome?
There are some strict rules about wild parking in a motorhome or campervan in Scotland. It’s not as easy as you might think and it’s certainly not a ‘right’.
The short answer is you ‘can’ wild park in some places along the route, but you must be very careful not to block the road or access to buildings or farmland, not cause damage or leave any trace and you MUST move on if asked.
There has also been some tension between the locals and visiting vans, which is still simmering. When I drove the NC500 in my motorhome, I wild parked some of the nights, but along the busy west coast I chose to stay in campsites as it made it less stressful for me.
Best NC500 campsites for motorhomes
Luckily, there are LOADS of campsites along or near the route of the NC500. Some are open all year round, but many are seasonal, opening only near Easter (some don’t open until July) and close by early October.
Here’s how to find motorhome campsites near you.
If you are planning to drive the NC500 during July and August, it pays to do your research and book a site in advance- especially the ones with amazing views or good facilities.
If you’re motorhoming in Scotland outside of peak season (which we highly recommend), then you should have more flexibility and not need to book up quite so far in advance.
Having said that, if there’s a place you really want to stay at, booking is always a good idea.

Best NC500 Campsites for Motorhomes on the West Coast
The Wee Campsite
The Wee campsite is small but has incredible views of the loch. The basic facilities include showers, toilets, wash-up and electric hook-ups.
Applecross is a small but popular village, set on the shores of a peninsula right in the SW corner.
There are only two routes to get there- one along the northern coast of the peninsula and one over the tops of the surrounding hills- known as the Bealach na Bà- one of the steepest and highest roads in the UK. The campsite at Applecross has spectacular views of the Isle of Skye and the western coastline.

Sands Campsite has an enviable location right on the coast, close to the town of Poolewe and the mountains of Wester Ross. There’s a shop selling fresh bread, groceries, gas and alcohol, laundry facilities, kids’ playground plus an onsite cafe in high season and plenty to do in the area.
If you fancy a bit of nightlife, Ullapool is a good stopping point and Broomfield Holiday Park is one of the few campsites near Ullapool. It’s also a perfect base if you’re getting a ferry to the Isles. They have electric hookup, kids play area and toilet blocks.

Shore Caravan Site is family-friendly campsite is on the award-winning Achmelvich Bay and is just 4-miles from the small village of Lochinver. The beach is the main attraction and you can expect to find families surfing, swimming and rockpool hunting. There are also hiking routes nearby.
Facilities include a toilet block with showers, launderette, on-site shop, chip shop and WiFi. They are strict about their facilities being for guests only. Also note that the electric hook-up is ONLY 6amps.

Clachtoll Beach and Campsite
This was one of my favourite campsites in the whole of the NC500 route- it was fantastic. The campsite has electric hookup, showers, toilet blocks (with hairdryers) and laundry facilities. There’s even a heated dog shower, toaster and WiFi.
This family-run site is very environmentally conscious and actively encourages campers to use eco-friendly chemicals in waste tanks when disposing of onsite as well. There’s a great fish and chip down and a little shop within easy walking distance.
Scourie Campsite is on the edge of Scourie Bay, with breathtaking views across the bay and islands. They are also near the ferry which runs to Handa Island so you can see the puffins. They have hard standing pitches, plus toilet blocks, dishwashing and waste.
PLEASE NOTE: No booking reservation is required for stays from 18th October to 31st March 2025. Just please arrive betweeen 12-5pm.
Gairloch Holiday Park overlooks Strath Bay and boasts stunning water views. The small village has some shops, pubs and a leisure centre.

Sango Sands Oasis
Sango Sands Oasis- NC500 motorhome campsites-
Sango Sands Oasis campsite is perched above the sandy Sango Sands beach and is one of the most popular campsites on the North Coast 500 route.
Facilities include electric hookup, hard standing and grass pitches, toilet blocks, waste disposal, laundry facilities and a restaurant with bar.
It’s a fantastic campsite, although we did have an interesting situation here where I was asked to leave in the middle of a storm, despite me asking the day before if I could extend my stay a couple of hours!

Smoo Cave is just down the road and the views over the North Sea are spectacular. Ceannabeinne Beach and the Golden Eagle zipline are nearby- the zipline was epic and I highly recommend it. There is an onsite bar and restaurant, stocked full of all the best Scotch Whisky, this cosy campsite is ideal for your stay in the north-west of Scotland.
You only need to book if you want electric hook-up. Non-serviced and grass pitches are first come, first served. Fair warning: it can get windy along this coastline- it’s very exposed.
Camping out of season: You may stay here overnight for just £20 with electric hookup. You can also use their water fill up. The toilets are closed but there are public toilets available next to the local supermarket.

Out-of-season (no toilets or showers) is £20 per night to self-contained vehicles only. This includes power, water, waste disposal and household refuse.
Dunnet Bay is another campsite with breathtaking views and a nearby beach. Close to the town of Thurso, it’s in an excellent location to visit John o’Groats and Orkney.
This is where we left our motorhome for the day when we visited Orkney on our motorbikes (you can also take your motorhome or camper to Orkney, even if just for the day.)
Dunnet Bay is a Caravan and Motorhome club site and there are facilities to match- toilet blocks, laundry, electric hookup and plenty of things to do nearby.
If you want to camp right next to John o’Groats, this is the campsite to do it. The views are wonderful and the facilities are good- electric hookup, toilet blocks and laundry facilities.

EAST COAST NC500 campsites for motorhomes and campers (inc BLACK ISLE and Inverness)
The Wick River campsite is a sheltered campsite on the banks of the River Wick and only a 5-minute walk into the town of Wick. Nearby are shops, restaurants, swimming, golf and beaches.
Please be aware when booking that the main entrance of the campsite has a height restriction of 2.89 meters due to a low railway bridge. You will get a welcome email that has instructions and directions on how to enter the site via the Alternative route along the riverside.
The Brora Caravan Club Site is on a fairly sheltered stretch of coastline, yet is just 300m from the beach.
It’s a popular site with birdwatchers, as the Arctic Tern nest on the beach. Nearby are lochs and the sea for swimming or fishing- you might even see whales, seals or dolphins. Brora village is only a couple of miles away and has shops and a couple of restaurants.
As sites go, this is a good one. There are so many facilities, including crazy golf, a jacuzzi, kids club, zipwire, bowling, indoor pool, tennis courts- and that’s before you even get to the beach and the incredible views.
The site sits on the white sand beach of Embo and is close to the historic town of Dornoch.
Onsite there is a shop, bar and restaurant. It’s a Park Dean resort, so it’s not quiet- or cheap, but if you want entertainment, this is the place for you.

Dingwall Camping and Caravanning Club Site
This Dingwall campsite overlooks the famous Cromarty Firth and is a peaceful place to unwind. Pitches are level and there’s a mix of grass and hard-standing, many with electric. There are toilet blocks and washing facilities.
It’s close to the market town of Dingwall which has a range of shops, a supermarket and restaurants. It’s also a great place to leave the motorhome and catch a train into Inverness or to Kyle of Lochalsh on the West coast; a stunning route taking in some of Scotland’s most beautiful scenery.
The Dingwall Heritage hiking Trail passes the campsite and follows the River Peffery to a picnic area on the Cromarty Firth.
Wildlife lovers can hopefully spot dolphins at Cromarty, or see Red Kites on the Black Isle. Ospreys can be seen in nearby Udale Bay. For local culture, visit the Victorian village of Strathpeffer or visit the Black Isle Brewery, Munlochy for tours and tastings.

If you want to visit Culloden, Ardtower Caravan Park is a great option. 95% of pitches have an uninterrupted view towards the Black Isle and the views beyond. There is decent Wi-Fi and a super modern facility block that is heated throughout.

NC500 Motorhome Campsites Open All Year Round
Here are a few campsites we know of along the NC500 which are open all year. (Please do check in advance- just in case they’ve changed their terms since we wrote this).
Waste Disposal Points for Motorhomes and Campervans on the NC500
Whilst I’m a big fan of wild parking in my motorhome, it sickens me how frequently the news has stories of idiots who have decided to just dump their waste (human or otherwise) at the side of the road, or in a corner of a car park- with absolutely no regard for the damage their actions are having both on the environment and on the public perception of motorhomers and campervanners.
WARNING: Locals have started a NC500 ‘watch’ to report troublemakers and people who leave behind damage or waste- and you could find yourself banned from any other campsites on the route, so please act responsibly.
It is true that the NC500 route has some areas where disposing of waste can be tricky- especially out of season when many places are closed.
However, there are options around, and the government is working to put more options in place, so please do use them. The easiest option is to book into a campsite and use their waste disposal points and fill up on freshwater.
There are even a couple of campsites along the route where you can dispose of grey and black waste hygienically, even if you choose not to stay on that campsite (you will need to pay a charge for using their facilities- as they have to pay to get your waste treated and removed.)

BMW’s first Neue Klasse EV will be a compact crossover in the X3 family, badged as the iX3
Production starts in late 2025 at a plant in Hungary
The iX3 will be followed in 2026 by an i3 electric sedan forming part of the next-generation 3-Series family
BMW used its annual general meeting held in Munich on Friday to confirm the first member of its upcoming Neue Klasse family of electric vehicles: the iX3.
A camouflaged prototype was displayed during the meeting, where CEO Oliver Zipse also confirmed that the covers will come off at the 2025 Munich auto show, scheduled for Sept. 9-14.
It was at the Munich auto show in 2023 where BMW rolled out the Vision Neue Klasse concept, which previews an electric 3-Series, almost certain to be badged as the i3, due out next year. The upcoming iX3 was also previewed with a concept, the Vision Neue Klasse X, in early 2024.
BMW previously sold an iX3 based on the previous-generation X3, though that electric crossover was built in China and never offered in the U.S. Similarly, the automaker also offers an electric version of the current 3-Series, badged as the i3, exclusively in the Chinese market.

The new iX3, which will form part of the current X3 compact crossover family, is already in pre-production at a newly constructed plant in Debrecen, Hungary. The first customer vehicles will start rolling off the line in late 2025, which suggests the vehicle may reach U.S. showrooms as a 2026 model, though a delay until the 2027 model year is also possible.
Neue Klasse EVs will ride on a next-generation EV platform that promises improved power and efficiency, plus faster charging thanks to an 800-volt electrical system. Neue Klasse EVs will also benefit from a next-generation battery with cylindrical cells (instead of the current prismatic cell design BMW uses), and together with other improvements, should result in a range improvement of 30% over BMW’s current EVs, the automaker has previously said.
The Neue Klasse EV platform also includes an overhaul of BMW’s electrical systems and chassis control technologies. For the electrical systems, zonal design, in which fewer control units are used for more functions, has been implemented. According to BMW, this has enabled designers to use almost 2,000 fewer feet of wiring, helping to save weight while increasing energy efficiency. This extends to the drivetrain and chassis management system that consolidates multiple control units into a single advanced unit BMW refers to as the Heart of Joy.
The Neue Klasse EVs will also usher in a new interface that replaces the traditional gauge cluster with a head-up display spanning the base of the windshield. Additionally, a central touchscreen will handle infotainment and various vehicle functions. This interface will also be spread to BMW’s gas and plug-in hybrid lineup.
The refreshed building has art deco-inspired design that complements its historic architecture.

Andaz Mexico City Condesa’s central location puts you in the middle of the action in La Condesa, with easy access to other popular neighborhoods and attractions.
Despite its buzzy location, the hotel feels like a peaceful retreat in the middle of the capital city.
There are many sides to Mexico City. There’s its Historic Center, upscale Polanco, the colorful canals of Xochimilco, and, of course, trendy La Condesa. With an abundance of cute mom-and-pop taco stands, Instagram-worthy cafes, boutique shops, and fashionable locals on every corner, it’s no wonder why this area has become a favorite among in-the-know travelers.
Just off a busy intersection on a tree-lined street is Andaz Mexico City Condesa, which is perhaps just as cool as the neighborhood it’s located in. Sited within a historic art deco building created by José Galán (who was influenced by another Mexican architecture icon, Luis Barragán), the hotel has kept many of its original features, including its eye-catching tile floors and mosaic murals. The interiors are a photo-ready celebration of round corners, modern design, and bold colors, including Andaz’s signature pink escalators.
The building actually has two hotels, the Andaz and Mondrian Mexico City Condesa. The two properties intertwine seamlessly, sharing a handful of common spaces. But those exclusive to Andaz have truly been made their own and echo their chic surroundings. There’s a vibrant courtyard lush with plants, an art deco-inspired cafe often filled with locals working on their laptops, and multiple rooftop hangouts.
But perhaps Andaz’s biggest strength is its location. Staying here puts you within walking distance (and La Condesa is very walkable) of countless delicious eateries, trendy shops, and bustling craft cocktail bars. If you’re feeling especially adventurous, the historic neighborhood of La Roma is about a 20-minute walk away.

Andaz Mexico City Condesa has 213 rooms, and guests can choose from options ranging from a unit with two double beds with city views to the spacious, 926-square-foot Executive Suite. I stayed in a King room, which had impressive skyline and mountain vistas.
The guest room design is sleek, modern, and heavily influenced by Galán’s original work, blending art deco touches with Andaz’s signature pink embellishments. There are also thoughtful touches like an in-room Victrola record player, a curated selection of records, and custom art. The result is accommodations that are effortlessly cool—it fits right in with the hip vibes of La Condesa.

There are four restaurants and bars at Andaz Mexico City Condesa—the property knows they are competing with one of the best food cities in the world, and more than delivers with its on-site fare. Start your day at the breakfast restaurant Pórtico, where guests can fuel up at the buffet or order from an à la carte menu. Everything at Pórtico is locally sourced and emphasizes scratch cooking—the restaurant uses free-range eggs from a small farmer in the area and bakes bread using a three-year-old sourdough starter.
Caffeine lovers should plan to stop by Derba Matcha Cafe, an art deco-style cafe with a range of espresso and matcha drinks, as well as larger-than-life pastries like the “crookie,” aka a cookie-dough-filled croissant. Derba is open until 10 p.m., and you’ll find that the cafe is often filled with locals who come here to work and socialize. But Derba isn’t the only local hangout as Andaz. Dog-friendly Wooftop Beer Garden & Canine Club is another popular spot and has a food truck that serves bar classics—there’s a fun arcade and board game area, too. It’s an ideal place to hang out with man’s best friend while enjoying Mexico City views.
For Tulum-like vibes in the heart of the capital, head to Cabuya Rooftop, which feels like a tropical oasis amid skyscrapers. Cabuya’s menu specializes in serving sustainably caught and raised seafood, and highlights include the Cabuya ceviche, the smoked marlin toastada, and the totoaba, a fish native to the Gulf of California that you can only eat in Mexico (it’s illegal to export).

Besides its attractive location, one of the best things about Andaz Mexico City is the amount of spaces there are to simply hang out and socialize. One of my favorite places was the courtyard, which the hotel shares with the Mondrian. Here, guests can enjoy outdoor seating, large statues, classic cars, and a historic fountain—Pórtico is located in the courtyard as well.
Mexico City generally has pretty balmy weather year-round, but temperatures can get a little nippy in the winter. Thankfully, the Andaz has a heated rooftop pool with arguably one of the best views of the city and the mountains. The pool area is serviced by Cabuya, so you can enjoy tropical-inspired cocktails without having to leave the water.
Andaz also has a selection of curated activities to help you get up close and personal with Mexico City and La Condesa. I participated in a food tour of the neighborhood and was blown away by a whirlwind of small taco shops, artisanal toast pastries, and natural wine—the best of what La Condesa has to offer. The guide also gave me a lot of fun recommendations that I tried to check off during the rest of my visit.
For those who love to stay active during their vacations, the Andaz has a fully-equipped 24-hour gym with Peloton treadmills and Technogym equipment.
The Spa

If you want to unwind after a long day of exploring, there’s Pasana Spa & Wellness, where guests can select from treatments such as deep tissue massages, body scrubs, or facials. Salt lamps made from salt sourced from the surrounding volcanoes are in every treatment room, and salt and herbs are incorporated into every treatment (though you can opt out if you wish). Pasana also has comfy relaxation rooms where you can enjoy a variety of herbal teas before or after your treatment.
Accessibility and Sustainability

Andaz Mexico City has one ADA room that is 667 square feet with a city view. It includes amenities such as a roll-in shower, a widened door, as well as a lowered peephole, door latch, thermostat, and light switches.
As for sustainability, Andaz Mexico City has an Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies (aka EDGE) certification, which means that the hotel has adopted sustainable hospitality practices, including the conservation of water, energy, and materials. For example, the property uses water-efficient toilets, faucets, and showers, energy-efficient lighting, and it also has a rainwater harvesting system.

It’s hard to beat Andaz’s central location within one of Mexico City’s best neighborhoods (not to mention a very walkable one). If you need to get to another part of the city, public transportation options are plenty, as are taxis as are the availabilty of ride-hailing services such as Lyft and Uber.
If you are flying in, Andaz Mexico City Condesa is eight miles from Mexico City International Airport Benito Juárez (MEX)—it’s about a 30 minute drive, depending on traffic. Andaz can help you arrange an airport transfer, but you can easily catch a taxi, Lyft, or Uber from the airport as well.
How to Get the Most Value Out of Your Stay
Andaz Mexico City is a Hyatt property and participates in the World of Hyatt—it’s a Category Four hotel, meaning you will need 12,000 points per night to book a stay here (if you want to pay in points instead of cash).
The property is also a part of American Express’s Fine Hotels + Resorts program. If you have a qualifying American Express card and book your stay through the American Express travel portal, you can get fun perks like a room upgrade (when available), a complimentary breakfast for two, early check-in, and a late check-out.
The fast and fun 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is being recalled because of a problem with its brakes that has resulted in at least one crash.
The recall of 1,508 vehicles aims to address a software error that could lead to “reduced braking performance,” increasing the risk of a crash, according to the NHTSA. That happens specifically when the left-foot braking feature—one of the many software-enabled features that makes the Ioniq 5 N such a good time on the track—is activated.
2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N
Left-foot braking helps manage weight transfer while reducing the time needed to switch from full acceleration to full braking, so it’s a good thing that Hyundai found a way to include it alongside the Ioniq 5 N’s simulated shifts, snap-crackle-pop soundtrack, and numerous drive modes. But in certain situations, the erroneous software could trigger depressurization of the anti-locking braking system (ABS), meaning it won’t be available if needed.
ABS dramatically cuts stopping distances, and even drivers who are used to pumping the brakes in an emergency will likely be caught off guard if this safety feature suddenly stops working. Hyundai told the NHTSA that it is aware of one crash related to this issue as of Feb. 6, when it filed recall documents with that agency. But the automaker said it wasn’t aware of any related deaths or fires.
2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N
Hyundai is advising Ioniq 5 N owners to stop using left-foot braking until they can bring their cars to dealerships, where the software for both the vehicle control unit and integrated electronic brake will be updated free of charge. Hyundai plans to mail owner notification letters on April 7. Owners can also call the automaker’s customer service department at 1-855-371-9460 for more information. Hyundai’s reference number for this recall is 275.
The Ioniq 5 N’s engaging driving experience and attainable price earned it Motor Authority’s Best Car To Buy 2025 award. In the hands of a professional driver, a modified version also set a class record at the 2024 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.
