Prada is typically all about curation. We know there is intention to its modernist assembly of fashion, no matter how simple or ordinary it may appear. And it all comes riddled with metaphors: a plain, ordinary T-shirt may serve its purpose as an unremarkable styling decision at most houses, but Prada is capable of making a similar T-shirt draw connections to specific subcultures and social commentaries. Some might call this the effect of “intelligent” fashion, an inflated term used by critics to single out fashion that exists beyond straightforward glamour, prestige and egotism, which Prada even had a hand in defining its meaning. Often, the house’s showing during fashion week becomes a discourse of co-creative directors Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons intent that season, giving way for discussions to make sense of what it means beyond a superficial appeal.
But nothing about this week’s showing of the Prada FW25 menswear collection has made sense yet. At least, not as ordered and measured as the collections the house has put out recently. It even reads like a plea for us to stop overthinking its meaning. And while the intent may be to be unintentional, this is the first Prada collection in years that feels chaotic, in the best way possible.
The collection resembled pieces you might find them hanging in a thrift store. Kitschy wallpaper prints drawn from your aunt’s kitchen and patchwork fur and leather that look put together from a rug were clashes that felt put together without an afterthought. Motifs in the Prada FW25 menswear collection such as a basketball pendant for an earring make sense and probably do not have a deeper meaning to it. And mismatched pieces styled together — such as a denim coat coexisting with a tuxedo jacket in one look — give a sense of the laid-back, an unpretentious assembly of things that can exist together if we’re all a little less uptight about how we approach fashion. Because maybe, it’s time we stop reading between the lines.
The latest wildfires destroying the city have sparked a complicated discussion concerning Los Angeles’ readiness to host the 2028 Olympic Games. Although key sites that will be used for the Olympics have so far been unaffected, the fires’ close proximity has raised worries amongst locals and officials alike.

As fires tore through the Pacific Palisades, the Riviera Country Club — which was to host the Olympic golf competition — barely avoided destruction. Despite this near-miss, most of the more than 80 Olympic sites are still outside of high-risk fire zones. Given that the Olympics are held in July when the Santa Ana winds that worsen wildfire conditions are generally absent, historical evidence indicates that the chances of such catastrophes occurring during the Games are minimal.

The present problem, however, highlights the more general difficulties of holding a major event in an area that is becoming more vulnerable to natural disasters. A professor of sport and geopolitical economy at Skema Business School in Paris, Simon Chadwick highlighted the seriousness of the situation, saying, “The situation is grave, and given the prospect of significant climate change, you do have to wonder whether the current situation might be repeated, possibly even during the Games.” He further questioned if a mega-event like this could be insured under these conditions.

California Governor Gavin Newsom has reiterated the state’s commitment to hosting the Olympics in the face of the escalating tragedy, telling NBC Today show that planning for the 2028 Olympics and the 2026 Fifa World Cup — where eight matches take place in Los Angeles — was on track.
The 2027 Super Bowl and the 2026 FIFA World Cup are two events he sees as chances to highlight the community’s resiliency and solidarity. Newsom said, “My humble position, and it’s not just being naively optimistic, (is) that only reinforces the imperative (of) moving quickly, doing it in the spirit of collaboration and cooperation.”
Notwithstanding these guarantees, many contend that the city’s present problems point to structural issues that might make it more difficult to host the Olympics effectively. According to Eric Sheehan of the NOlympics LA — a coalition against the Games — the fires show that Los Angeles cannot provide for its citizens and handle the expectations of the biggest athletic event in the world.
Conservative commentators have quickly called for Los Angeles to lose its hosting rights for the Olympics. Right-wing figure Charlie Kirk took to X, stating, “The Los Angeles Olympics should be called off.”
He added, “If you can’t maintain basic infrastructure like fire hydrants, you’re not fit to host the Olympics. Move the Games to cities like Dallas or Miami, where athletes can compete in a place capable of safely managing and delivering such an event.”
Financial factors are also very important. About USD 7 billion of the Games’ budget is privately funded, but taxpayers would probably foot the tab if there were any overruns. The recent wildfires have put additional strain on resources and may make Olympic financial preparation much more difficult.
Critics argue that hosting the Olympics will exacerbate Los Angeles’ already dire housing crisis. As the city scrambles to prepare for the Games, concerns over gentrification, mass displacement, and prioritising Olympic-related infrastructure over affordable housing have taken centre stage. Activist groups like NOlympics LA have pointed out that public funds allocated to Olympic projects could instead address the housing emergency affecting tens of thousands of Angelenos.
This debate has intensified following reports of skyrocketing rents and evictions in neighbourhoods near planned Olympic venues. Some locals fear that the Games will transform Los Angeles into a playground for tourists and corporations, leaving the city’s most vulnerable populations behind.
Back to Paris?
While Paris could serve as a potential fallback, given its established infrastructure and recent experience hosting major events, the likelihood of moving the 2028 Games remains slim. The city’s preparedness and ability to deliver a seamless event are evident, but with time running short and the complexities of such a shift, experts agree that Los Angeles will remain the host, despite its mounting challenges.
Therefore, experts think that moving the Games is unlikely despite the difficulties. Given the limited schedule and logistical challenges, finding a substitute host at this point would be practically impossible, according to Jonathan Aronson, a lecturer at the University of Southern California. “It will simply continue,” he declared.
The road to the 2028 Olympics seems paved with challenges as Los Angeles struggles with the consequences of the wildfires. The situation necessitates striking a careful balance between short-term recovery operations and long-term planning to guarantee that the city can successfully and safely welcome the globe in 2028.

The 2CV is one of Citroën’s most iconic cars, renowned worldwide for its distinctive looks and affordable price. Affectionately nicknamed the Duck, the 2CV ended production in 1990 after a 42-year run. Now, it might make a comeback as an electric vehicle.
Autocar, citing an anonymous senior source at the Stellantis-owned brand, reported on Jan. 22 that a modern 2CV powered by batteries is under consideration, and work on a potential design full of retro cues has already begun.
Citroën had previously ruled out a modern 2CV, but interest in recent retro EVs from French rival Renault appears to have persuaded Citroën to reconsider. Renault recently launched the retro-styled 4 crossover and 5 hatchback, and it is now working on a retro design for its next Twingo, which is due in 2026 with a targeted starting price below 20,000 euros (approximately $20,800).
Fellow Stellantis brand Jeep has also promised an electric Renegade for under $25,000. The electric Renegade will likely use Stellantis’ STLA Small platform, designed for subcompact and compact EVs. Any modern 2CV would likely share this platform. Stellantis has previously stated that the STLA Small platform will support EVs with up to 300 miles of range. However, to keep costs down, the modern 2CV would likely feature a smaller battery and a corresponding shorter range.
Citroën 2CV
It’s unclear when a modern 2CV might debut, but a typical four-year development cycle suggests it could be ready by 2028. Coincidentally, that date would mark the 80th anniversary of the original car’s unveiling at the Paris auto show.
Although a modern 2CV is not guaranteed, Citroën has already launched a spiritual successor in the form of the Ami minicar. The Ami, launched in 2020 with a battery capacity of just 5.5 kwh, features some styling cues that link it to the 2CV, both inside and out.
Mercedes-Benz hasn’t indicated whether it’s working on a stretched version of its latest S-Class to carry on the tradition of the Pullman limousine, but a company by the name of Binz will soon be ready to supply another Mercedes stretch limousine based on the E-Class.
Germany’s Binz has been modifying Mercedes sedans since the 1960s, and in addition to its limousine conversions, the company also builds hearses and ambulances. A number of North American companies offer similar conversions, including Canada’s Inkas, which can build a stretched G-Class, among other vehicles.
Unlike traditional limousines that tend to stick to having a pair of doors at the front and rear—like Mercedes’ last S-Class Pullman—Binz’s design features six doors, making access to the middle compartment easier. Various seating configurations can be ordered, with the maximum being an eight-seat layout consisting of two individual front seats, followed by three-seat benches in the second and third rows.
Buyers can typically choose from standard or comfort seats, a multi-zone climate control system, and entertainment and connectivity packages. Imagine a minibar for limousines destined for party services.

The exterior design adds almost 45 inches of length where the B-pillar normally sits, and to fill the gap is a specially fabricated set of middle-row doors. The prototype features a makeshift design, but the final version will be more polished and should appear seamless.

Mercedes itself offers a stretched E-Class, albeit exclusively in China. However, this version only boasts an extra five inches in the wheelbase, with most of the extra space benefiting rear-seat passengers.
On February 5, 2025, RM Sotheby’s Paris auction will feature a rare 2011 Koenigsegg Agera. With an estimated value of up to $2,400,000, this hypercar is one of only seven Ageras produced between 2010 and 2011.
The Agera was introduced in 2010 as a successor to Koenigsegg’s CC platform. It is powered by a twin-turbocharged 5.0-litre V8 engine delivering approximately 950 horsepower, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission driving the rear wheels.
This specific car, known as the Agera “X,” was originally commissioned for a German customer in 2011. It features a Formula 1-inspired two-tier rear wing and was the first Koenigsegg finished in satin carbon fibre rather than gloss lacquer. The car’s unique design includes red “claw” stripes outlined in white, enhancing the front clamshell, and matching pinstripes on its turbine-style Vortex Generating Rims, which improve brake cooling and downforce.
Inside, the Agera’s interior underwent a factory refit in 2020, replacing the original white leather with black leather and Alcantara, complemented by red stitching and brushed aluminium switchgear. The seats incorporate the Swedish flag’s colours as an homage to Koenigsegg’s heritage.
This Agera is also linked to the “Ghost Squadron,” a series of exclusive tours for Koenigsegg owners, signified by the “GS” logo on the side. With 20,367 kilometres on the odometer, it remains well-preserved and comes with extensive maintenance records.
Formula 1 driver Fernando Alonso was recently spotted driving his Ford GT Heritage Edition in Monaco. The 2-time World Champion was seen with his former manager Flavio Briatore outside a restaurant.
The Heritage Edition was introduced in 2020 as a tribute to the GT40’s victory at the 1966 Daytona 24-Hour Continental race. It is finished in the same livery as the Daytona-winning GT40. It has a black hood and stripes, red patches and the No. 98 on the sides. It is available with either a set of Heritage Gold 20-inch one-piece forged aluminium or carbon fibre wheels if you tick the Heritage Upgrade Package option. The interior is wrapped in Alcantara.
Alonso’s Ford GT Heritage Edition, though, has a gold exterior with red highlights and the no. 5 roundel on the front and sides.
The Heritage Edition is powered by the same 3.5-liter, twin-turbo V6 engine as the standard GT. It produces 660 hp and 550 lb-ft of torque and is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Ford claims the GT can hit 60 mph in 2.8 seconds and has a top speed of 217 mph.

The next-generation Dodge Durango looks to be back on.
In a memo first spotted by Automotive News, Stellantis reconfirmed plans to build a redesigned Durango at its Detroit Assembly Complex, which already builds the current-generation Durango. That was subsequently announced in a press release from the UAW, along with confirmation that Stellantis was moving ahead with plans to build a new midsize pickup truck at an idled Illinois factory.
Both the midsize pickup and the new Durango were outlined in a 2023 UAW agreement with Stellantis, along with several other new models. That agreement stated that a redesigned Durango, codenamed D6U, would enter production in 2026.
2025 Dodge Durango
But in September 2024, Automotive News Canada reported that the Durango would be replaced by a slightly smaller SUV wearing the Stealth name, which originated with Dodge’s rebadged version of the Mitsubishi 3000GT sports car in the 1990s.
The 2024 report said the Dodge Stealth SUV would be a five-passenger model based on the STLA Large platform that also underpins the redesigned Dodge Charger, and would enter production in 2026 at Stellantis’ plant in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. That report also said production of the current-generation Durango would end in July 2027.

However, this could be another example of Stellantis attempting to walk back commitments it made to the UAW in its 2023 contract with the union. The midsize pickup truck discussed in the same Stellantis memo and UAW statement as the Durango was allegedly due to be delayed before the UAW put pressure on Stellantis to follow through.
A new Dodge Durango would likely be quite different than the current version, a long-wheelbase derivative of the previous-generation (WK2) Grand Cherokee that is now the only Dodge available with a V-8 engine, and the last Stellantis product of any kind to use the 6.2-liter supercharged Hellcat V-8.
Rivian makes excellent electric trucks and SUVs, but it’s not great at actually making money on them yet — the company loses tens of thousands of dollars on every EV it gets out the door. To rectify those financial woes, Rivian is now offering thousands of dollars off its R1S and R1T in hopes of boosting sales. Discounts start at $3,000 for dual-motor models with the Max battery pack, and go up to $6,000 for the mid-range tri-motor Max pack trim.
Tesla’s Cybertruck Has Finally Arrived
There’s only one catch to earn the discount: You have to get an estimate on a trade-in vehicle. Notably, you don’t actually have to trade in a vehicle. The deal is called the “All-Electric Upgrade Offer,” which sounds like a classic conquest incentive — offer discounts for customers who are new to your brand in hopes they’ll stick around. The odd thing with Rivian’s deal, though, is that conquests are most often lease deals. Here, it’s cash on the hood for a sale.
Rivian’s two lowest trims, the base Dual Standard and the Dual Large, don’t get any kind of conquest discount. The Dual Max gets $3,000 off, the Dual Max witn Performance Upgrade gets $4,500 off, and the Tri Max gets the full $6,000. The top-of-the-line quad-motor model isn’t being delivered yet, so it’s got no incentives available for now.
The deal is only good for vehicles delivered through the end of March, which takes advantage of the uncertainty around the current state of electric vehicles in the United States. There’s a sense of urgency around EV purchases right now, and it seems Rivian’s hoping to take advantage.

This clever design choice reflects the hotel’s devotion to preserving local character, even as it delivers an upscale, contemporary atmosphere.
Third-Floor Treasures at the Canopy by Hilton San Antonio
Rising to the third floor, we discovered a versatile common area adorned with comfortable seating and distinctive artwork. One eye-catching display features glowing shelves lined with brightly colored jars, lending a lively yet refined accent to the room. Beyond this creative space sits a compact but well-appointed fitness center, as well as Otro, a terrace bar boasting wonderful views of the restaurant below and the Riverwalk beyond.
Swanky Suite and Thoughtful Details at the Canopy by Hilton San Antonio Riverwalk
For our stay, we chose a King Suite, and from the moment we arrived, it was clear the designers had embraced a fresh, modern aesthetic. Polished concrete floors, bright area rugs, and a mid-century modern leather sofa—all illuminated by floor-to-ceiling windows—created a welcoming, stylish setting. A sleek partition separated the bedroom from the living area, each side equipped with a large TV. We did notice the TVs lacked the option to stream from our phones, which felt like a small oversight in an otherwise technologically forward environment.
The spacious bathroom continued the suite’s bold design, sporting dramatic black-and-white tiles, a roomy glass-door shower, and dual sinks. Apothem Charcoal amenities, plush robes, and plenty of storage kept us feeling pampered—though a pair of slippers would have been nice on those cool concrete floors. Practical touches, like a built-in closet and generous luggage rack, ensured our belongings stayed organized. Meanwhile, a Nespresso machine delighted the coffee purist in us both, though we did need to request some half-and-half from housekeeping (only two small serving packages of cream were supplied) to fully enjoy our morning routine.
Welcoming Touches
Check-in proved quick and cordial, complete with an offer of either bottled water or a pair of local brews. Naturally, we opted for the latter and were glad we did. In each room, a repurposed glass milk bottle can be filled at a filtered-water station just down the hall—a small but meaningful nod toward sustainability.
Dining & Drink
Among the hotel’s highlights, the Domingo restaurant stood out for its captivating menu, spanning traditional Tex-Mex fare to inventive culinary creations. IMAX (Alamo: The Price of Freedom) – We thought seeing the movie on the Alamo would be a great way to learn more about the event that changed the course of Texas, and while it did accomplish that, the overall IMAX experience was a bit of a letdown.
